Take note how few people are commenting/demanding the Epstein files now compared to a few weeks ago.

The zone has flooded.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 36 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

Call his bluff. He just wants to wag his dick around. So mexico should mobilize their army at the border and say "cross this line and you are declaring war."

Guaranteed someone up high makes him understand how politically stupid that would be. Probably in pictures. With small words.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago

I don't think we have enough time or crayons for that

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

Who else are we going to change the dissidents at? Are you going to kick off with the middle east or southeast asia, with these gas prices?

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 12 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

No he isn't, he isn't declaring war with mexico, that would be REALLY, REALLY stupid.

This is one of his horrible attempts at negotiating with Mexico, but it just comes across as insanity.

[–] KneeTitts@lemmy.world 18 points 6 hours ago

that would be REALLY, REALLY stupid

You know he is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY stupid right?

[–] iamdefinitelyoverthirteen@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

He technically can't declare war.

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

The US hasn’t “technically” been at war since WW2. We weren’t “at war” during the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War…

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Only open war we've had since I can remember is the war on drugs and homelessness. Shows you were our priorities lie considering we haven't done shit to address either.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 hours ago

No but he might declare a Special Military Operation. To be over in 3 days, also.

[–] oppy1984@lemdro.id 6 points 5 hours ago

Technically and laws don't apply to this administration, if he were to declare war the Republicans would just predate a declaration of war and say it's legal.

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 31 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah, this is great. We're going to (illegally) invade Mexico ane Venezuela simultaneously, while also occupying our own cities that don't go along the paramilitary immigration Gestapo. Oh, and we're also waging chaotic, impulsive trade wars with literally every country on Earth. Maybe we can get a ground war going in Russia as well, really speed run the imperial collapse.

[–] discosnails@lemmy.wtf 5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Don't forget Nigeria! You know, the oil rich African country with 60 million military aged (18-35) men.

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

There's so much terrible news all the time, I legitimately don't know if we've threatened to attack Nigeria or not

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 3 hours ago

I feel this. I want to play a game and check out, but I sliced the fuck out of left index finger a few days ago...

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 8 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Throw in a land war in Asia

[–] lando55@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 hours ago

Classic blunder

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 26 points 9 hours ago

So peaceful. Give this man 2 Nobel peace prizes.

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 17 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

If he incurs on Mexico, I fully expect Mexico to declare war.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 2 points 3 hours ago

Texas is gunna find out real quick what is like being a buffer state. Hope you assholes get the day you voted and/or were too lazy to vote for.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago

Not to worry. That perfect impenetrable wall that Trump had built during his first term will protect us all from the Mexican army.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 26 points 15 hours ago

If the cartels turn Trump and his fellow MAGATs into gas station attendants, I wouldn't mind. They are also welcome to burn down the ballroom.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 24 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

The shithead-in-chief wants a war so he can declare martial law and end our chance to rid ourselves of his cancer.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 3 hours ago

Hopefully cancer will rid us of him first. All the medical talk about him recently has me hopeful.

[–] Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world 42 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

This must be how the people in a Civs world must feel. Like things, just not making any sense.

[–] blazeknave@lemmy.world 13 points 15 hours ago

Watch out for Gandhi

[–] daguma118@lemmy.zip 38 points 19 hours ago

He’s not going for cartels, the US supplies cartels with weapons and gives drugs to the US. That’s their cash cow!

He is going because the political parties the US funds in Mexico are loosing popularity and they need to interfere before it’s too late.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 155 points 23 hours ago (9 children)

Imagine if this guy spent this much energy on building housing.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 7 points 6 hours ago

Hey Ukraine, here comes Russia to liberate you from your Nazi problem.

He saw big boy Vlad do it and wants to copy his idol.

“It will be easy, it will be quick and we are sure to win” Charles the Ist, 1642, John Burgoyne, 1777, Napoleon, 1812, Hitler, Nixon, W Bush, the list of everyone who falls for it is long lol

[–] mudstickmcgee@sh.itjust.works 6 points 7 hours ago

Just a special military operation, 4 days maximum

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 35 points 19 hours ago

The turd reich

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 57 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (3 children)

Oh this won't go well.

Cartels don't... Care about war crimes. Like at all. Like less than Trump.

These soldiers families are about to be at risk.

Wild shit to go military on cartels.

[–] Horsecook@sh.itjust.works 29 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Do you think it would bother Trump if some cartel killers hung corpses from a bridge in the US? It would just allow him to expand his harassment and deportation of Hispanics in the US, give some appearance of legitimacy to a declaration of martial law.

[–] grissino@lemmy.world 13 points 10 hours ago

Sounds like this is the planned outcome actually.

[–] FoxyFerengi@startrek.website 36 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (2 children)

Seriously, he does not have a single clue what he's marching the US into. That's going to be incredibly messy at best

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Uh, pay attention, the US has been marching stupidly into shit shows since the Korean war. Did we learning nothing from MASH?

[–] Ironfist79@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago

Learning things is un-American.

So like the same situation with those fishing boats? Just going to go and kill a bunch of people without a trial and claim they were cartels. ?

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

I have honestly been saying this for years. Why are Americans stomping around the Middle East to stop half baked groups of religious insurgents when there are cartels right on their border and inside. We all know this is just posturing, as Americans and the GoP love bombing the Middle East and consuming cartel drugs

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

Yeah, I've had this thought for a while now. Why not fight the cartels and make Mexico a great place to live. Then we wouldn't have so many trying to come to the US. It could unironically solve the "immigration problem" if done properly.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 59 points 22 hours ago

Can we just... not?

The Military Industrial Complex forces the US to always be at war somewhere around the world. Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Palantir (the big one now), and many others are the reason the US is doing this military campaign. Gotta keep those shareholders happy.
