I always wanted a gaming pc but never got coz of windows. Now I am planning for a 9060 build.
Linux Gaming
Discussions and news about gaming on the GNU/Linux family of operating systems (including the Steam Deck). Potentially a $HOME away from home for disgruntled /r/linux_gaming denizens of the redditarian demesne.

Kushner buying EA set me free from buying Battlefield 6 which was the only reason I was using Windows.
I made the switch last week on my gaming setup and I'm stunned. It works perfectly.
just installed a totally legitimate copy of gta iv that I've had for over 10 years on my HDD. I remember it being a pain in the arse to get to run on windows, and it ran like shit even with very good HW. it installed fine on mint, ran without any fiddling in lutris, and it's butter smooth. wtf.
The nice thing about gta 4 on linux is that you don't even need to manually bother with dxvk, which people also use on windows because it improves the game's performance.
Except for my favourite games :( fkin anti cheat cancer
I have setup dual boot for a few months now mostly using Linux for gaming. It MOSTLY works it's so close to be indistinguishable from the windows experience but I have found having to tinker more than I would like.
I'm eager to move off Windows, I made a comment months ago saying I will switch when Linux is 100% compatible for gaming and got downvoted and told it's ready, but checking the games I play on protondb they require tinkering. I have less time these days and don't want to fuck around trying to get the games to run. The only tinkering I require in Windows at the moment is removing motion blur from games and increasing FoV, I don't need to add command line arguments to get multiplayer in a game to partially function.
I got a Steam Deck 4 months ago in prep for having a child, and I've been really pleased with SteamOS. I feel Linux is so very close.
I require tinkering to log into windows ever week or two. Same difference. I get your point though.
Would that tinkering be patch Tuesdays once a month and having to click "not now" a few times? If so that is one of the reasons I want to get off the Windows ship!
I can't stand having more "features" pushed on me that is very clearly not for my benefit.
Yes, once a month of you use one computer. I move between 4 at work and have one at home.
It's now impossible to not log in without a Microsoft account. Some of our shared log ins for the team end up switching settings to edge etc every once in a while as clicking next will change settings with dark patterns.
Thanks for the Peertube link 🤘
