The visit to Bangkok was one of many trips Andrew took at British taxpayers’ expense when he was serving as an official trade envoy for the UK in the early 2000s.

I feel like maybe the British public should rely on the British civil service to negotiate their trade arrangements, rather than the royal family.

[–] davepleasebehave@lemmy.world 25 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sure the royal family are only really there to add a sense of gravitas and peadophilia to occasion.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 13 hours ago

Gravitophilia

At one time?

That's like playing herpes roulette

[–] Credibly_Human@lemmy.world 12 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Ha ha, andrew bad, I agree, but....

Most adults have herpes of some form (Double digit percentages for 1 or 2). Most don't know because they don't exhibit symptoms. Its basically never tested for because tests are not good for when it doesnt show symptoms, and because doctors feel the stigma is worse than the virus.

You can do research and find a bunch more sources than even the wikipedia article lists, but in essence, if you are at all sexually active as an adult, you almost certainly already have herpes.

Just reality.

The stigma shouldn't be there for something this mundane.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

When most speak of herpes we dont mean cold sores ... we mean the blistering crotch infestation.

[–] Credibly_Human@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Just 1 part of the misunderstandings. Both can go to either area even if they are typically found in their respective ones.

Further, most who have herpes, even in the crotch region, will still show no recognizable symptoms and be difficult to test for.

Again, especially considering that condoms are not practically effective for preventing spread, and the results are typically not the horrendous cases you'll have remembered, the stigma still isn't worth it.

I mean, I suppose you could osculate and perform cunnilingus with dental damns, fellatio with condoms and no contact, and copulate and or engage in anal coitus in full body latex, but let's be real, because you won't be doing that, and most people who have it wont know they do, its the stigma that's the biggest problem; the same fear that drives knee-jerk reactions.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip -4 points 5 hours ago

Dude. No one cares this much about it. Quit being fuckin weird.

While it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that Andrew would want to do this but it does surprise me that his handlers allowed him to do it so brazenly.

Even not-particularly-wealthy people can go to a resort / brothel in South East Asia and see 40 prostitutes in a few days if that's their desire. Everyone involved would very happily turn a blind eye.

However, doing it on a state visit is essentially the production and provision of kompromat.

It's interesting that the bangkok post has chosen to publish this now.

Thailand has strict Lèse-majesté laws prohibiting any negative commentary about royalty. I wonder if that applied to foreign royalty and if so, whether it no longer applies now that Andy is no longer a "Prince".

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 48 points 1 day ago (1 children)

whether it no longer applies now that Andy is no longer a “Prince”.

Randy Andy is the Prince of the Nonces.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

The nonce formerly known as prince

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

He's still a prince, he just quietly agreed to stop calling himself one publicly

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Ah, no... the King has very publicly stripped him of his title and evicted him from the royal property in which he resided.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Source? Because I've heard this repeated a lot, but where's the ceremony? Where's the paperwork? When did the title actually get stripped?

It's kinda like declassifying documents, you can't just do it in your mind. It requires some bureaucracy, and as far as I understand Parliament needs to get involved for this one

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 8 hours ago

Seems like a pretty good explainer:

https://bbc.com/news/articles/c5ylk9r336zo

However, i infer from your comment that youre incredulous?

Why would the BBC report it if its not true?

[–] roscoe@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 13 hours ago

He's still in the line of succession for the throne. Changing that would require an act of parliament, which I assume will happen soon. But until then, even if he's no longer called Prince, being in line for the throne is kind of what makes a prince/princess.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 17 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

That is what I consider too many sex workers.

[–] SaraTonin@lemmy.world 7 points 16 hours ago

Say what you want about the man, but he’s got stamina. There’s hardcore gooners who wouldn’t manage 10 waifus a day, 4 days in a row.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 4 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

one time i went to a strip club in my 20s, and i always thought it was a "no touching" thing. this girl put a rag on my lap and said i could touch her where ever and it was one of the most awkward experiences in my life.

it's safe to say i never went back to a strip club after that.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 2 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

... A rag?

I've never been to a strip club, and now have no desire.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

Been to plenty and can't see that flying for 2 seconds.

It's a neat experience if you're a man with a female date. The dancer's treat you very differently and bend over backwards to make your woman feel comfortable and wanted there. Great fun!

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 1 points 16 hours ago

yeah that's what went though my head

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

My friends bought me a dance from a male dancer, in a private booth... once in there, the guy told me they'd paid for a blowjob as well. I kept my dick in my drawers and we chatted for a few minutes instead. Who the fuck wants paid sex, ick

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 6 points 19 hours ago

I mean, the thing is, is that if your ok with that, you do you, but for me, sex isn't like somthing i do so casually with anyone like that. There's of course that thing where "men" are supposed to enjoy it, but for me, i had a feeling inside that this was wrong and not the way i enjoy doing things. I mean there was nothing wrong with the stripper she was a nice and i went for a smoke we chatted, but im kinda more like "can i buy you a drink and lets talk" kinda person not "netflix and chill" type of person.

[–] setsubyou@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

Just ask if you can shake her hand or something

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh the English royal not the Tate one

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 8 points 21 hours ago

Well the confusion is understandable since they are both the same level of "classy"

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 49 points 1 day ago (9 children)

I wonder if they were underage? They say women if they're over 9 years old in those crowds.

Disgraced former prince Andrew once had 40 prostitutes brought to his five-star hotel over four days during a taxpayer-funded trip to Thailand, his biographer has claimed.

Andrew engaged with the women over a four-day stretch, royal historian and author Andrew Lownie alleged, according to a report in the New York Post and other media outlets.

Very highly likely that at least one of these encounters involved children. Andrew is a sweaty, greasy nonce and needs to be locked up in a commoners prison where he belongs.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

*Intermittently sweaty.

10 hookers per day? dude is an olympian

He's similar to a Steam user in that he purchases more games than he actually plays

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 35 points 1 day ago

Don’t be too impressed. Half were sat around a table feeding one another hotdogs, while the other half were wiping tears from his face and consoling him in Thai.
