I'm sure federal republicans are preparing to make state-led programs like this illegal.

You know they will! God. Damnit.

This is going to be wildly popular. May even pay for itself as it gets people back to work who otherwise couldn't, frees up spending money, etc. Later, these kids will be better educated adults bringing more benefits to the state.

The GOP cannot allow this example to be set. But this Rep has a solid criticism:

Critics such as New Mexico State Representative Rebecca Dow, a Republican, say it makes no sense to give wealthier families free child care when they could receive federal tax breaks for child care included this year in President Donald Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill.

I suppose they could not have passed this without letting the wealthy in on it. Fine.
