It appears no one here has lost a loved one. When you do, the people who show up for you are deeply appreciated. A 3 second hug is hardly an issue when someone has been there to help you reclaim and return your husband's body.

Not explicitly, no, but I wouldn't consider holding the head of someone I cared about and who had just helped me through a desperately traumatizing event odd. The world needs a little more compassion and empathy and less criticism.

Here’s my conspiracy brain take. With turnips rapidly declining health, they know they need the next puppet to take his place. So, this kirk shit happens and all of the sudden they have an already cult approved stepford wife, complete with a perfect sympathy story for cover (‘he was helping me with my grief and it just happened like it was meant to be from god!’).
