Pirating a game still supports the release by becoming a common topic.

If you want to protest, ignore the developer and their every game. Otherwise you still use their product and help with marketing.

damn I feel like the real weirdo in this thread , if I want to play a game I buy it on epix or steam and maybe in the future gog . I used to pirate back in the day, but I quit that. I want to support the people that make my life fun. I realized later in life.

People are specifically suggesting that this game be pirated due to rockstar being shitty to its employees. I would imagine the majority of people on Lemmy do buy their games, probably a lot more through steam than epic though.

I think your average Linux user does want to give game creators their fair share. But they would like to withhold from those that take away from others.

I more or less stopped pirating games after moving my PC to Linux full time.
