I love the concept of ewphoria

It's so real, especially early in transition. I remember chatting with a coworker via Teams about cars, and he was being really weird about trying to flex his car, getting really upset I wasn't fawning over it, and being extremely dismissive of basically every opinion I had. I kept thinking to myself "wtf is this guy's problem?" because I had literally never interacted with a person so condescending when talking to me about cars.

Mind you, I'm an automotive engineer, working for an automotive company, who has been racing since before I got my license. I would say I'm decently knowledgeable about cars.

It wasn't until he said "There goes silly hovercat with her silly opinions again" that I realized "Oh shit, he's talking to me like that because I'm a woman". It was incredibly affirming, but definitely some mixed feelings about the whole thing.

That's when you need to come alive, just absolutely over-explain why his shit isn't that unique or interesting.

Oh, I absolutely did. He got pretty fed up and left me alone pretty quickly when he realized I wasn't going to jerk him off over his basic-bitch G80.

ok people need to be realistic. You will never get that delicious toxic Asuka-Shinji relationship. I have been a trans-inclusive misogynistic for YEARS and all I have is the hospital room scene but without Asuka

My Evangelese is a bit rusty but isn't the hospital scene with Rei

The joke is that you'd think the reactions would be switched because getting called pretty is generally the nice thing and there dishwasher comment is usually meant as a sexist jab. But there's a phenomenon among trans people in general but in this case among trans women in particular where especially early on in transition they tend to get very happy at experiencing the garden variety sexism that's usually reserved for their aligned gender because it means the other people are seeing them as that gender rather than their agab and treating them as such.

yeah i don't call women dishwashers as they aren't a mechanical device.

Good for you? Again, talk to basically any trans woman who has been transitioning for a while and almost all of them have an Ew-phoria story they can tell you where they were a wild Gender Affirming Sexism appeared. Hell, I know several that regularly deploy Tactical Misogyny™ in their own self-deprecating humor because it's gender-affirming.

Humans are fucking weird little gremlin beasts.

A dishwasher could also be a person who washes dishes.

And since they're in the kitchen they get called Chef. It's about respect.

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 6 days ago

Yeah, we know. The whole point of this post is that there's a thing with early transitioned trans women where they kinda enjoy insults for women because that means that the rude person saw them as a woman.

Ewphoria, meaning yes, you shouldn't say that, but also fuck yes, you though I was a woman so I pass that's awesome.
