I screamed when he overtook Max! πŸ˜…

Where's my mariachi theme? I waited the whole season for it! πŸ₯²

Edit: THERE IT IIIIIIIS!!!

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

It's here now!

[–] DV8@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

They finally got it for the grid line up! Good times!

Russell: I can get podium

loses track position to Piastri

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

10s penalty for Hamilton oof oof oof.

Commencing Bearman podium hopium.

Mega chaos! Hamilton and Verstappen brawling it out. Bearman taking great advantage of the chaos and making it to P4.

Do ducks sit horizontally?

They do now.

Never change, Crofty.

[–] davetortoise@reddthat.com 2 points 1 week ago

The man talks utter nonsense I love it

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why was Lando being booed?

[–] davetortoise@reddthat.com 3 points 1 week ago

Because the social media f1 hivemind decided piastri is the good guy and norris is the bad guy

[–] KokoSabreScruffy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Aaaand a 10s penalty for Hamilton.

[–] MangioneDontMiss@feddit.nl 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

such bullshit. Verstappen was basically playing bumper cars forcing people off the track at the start of the race and he gets nothing.

[–] WALLACE@feddit.uk 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

F1 is owned by Americans now. Why would the one that brings in viewers and therefore money get punished for anything?

[–] MangioneDontMiss@feddit.nl 2 points 6 days ago

i haven't switched off a race in at least 5 years. But I turned that shit off so fast when they said verstappen wasn't getting a penalty for that crap. I don't think I can continue to watch this utter horse shit.

That was a great move from Oscar, and a great display of coolness from George. Also, LOL for Kimi's request to swap positions.

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nah it’s justified. Russel said he would swap back if he couldn’t catch Bearman, which he didn’t on both the mediums and the softs. Anything else would be unfair.

[–] PrincessKadath@ani.social 4 points 1 week ago

Absolutely. I was talking about the timing the radio message was broadcasted.

[–] DV8@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I just hope the stewards don't decide what the consequences of all of this is after the race...

[–] cyrano@piefed.social 5 points 1 week ago

Max doing some rally in the grass πŸ˜†

Wild start wew!

Disaster for Piastri.

[–] Pringles@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago

I'm extremely disappointed they didn't have the theme song by a marriachi band this year.

And as I am typing they switched to it. Figures

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Omg divine VSC intervention.

[–] Goodeye8@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was so disappointed. You watch lap after lap Verstappen catching Leclerc and when you're ready for the fight the VSC comes out and just ruins everything.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Hey Charles deserves a smidgen of luck sometimes too

[–] Etnaphele@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Maybe I’m wrong, but it looked like the yellow flag in sector 3 gave an advantage to Verstappen, as the gap went from 1,1-1,2s to 0,6s right before the straight. We know how cheeky Max is with Safety Cars, or maybe Leclerc lifted more than necessary

[–] Goodeye8@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

I don't mind Charles finishing ahead, I just wanted a fight.

Big big gamble with the 2 stop. Let's see how it goes.

Norris has a mad 23s lead.

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He read it beautifully. "Had a shit weekend, might aswell help my ol' buddy Chuck."

[–] hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

Softs AND mediums on the grid? Wowza.

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Again doing the thing where they’re showing the popular guy doing nothing on the big screen and an actual battle on the small one. Can’t they just swap for a few seconds so the viewers can actually see the action?

[–] davetortoise@reddthat.com 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They kind of have to show the race leader cross the finish line. Annoying rule but happens all the time

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This was when Verstappen was 3 seconds behind Leclerc

[–] davetortoise@reddthat.com 2 points 1 week ago

If it's 3 seconds that's not too bad

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

".. Stroll hasn't scored points here since 2017" - ouch.

Edit: "and dropping to the back of the field is Lance Stroll"

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not letting the drivers celebrate with their teams?

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They've always parked up at the stadium at the end of the race.

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago

Didn’t know that. Weird

[–] PrincessKadath@ani.social 2 points 1 week ago

Come on, that was ridiculous.

[–] PrincessKadath@ani.social 1 points 1 week ago

I would like to know by how much Carlos was speeding in the pit lane.

[–] belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not sure this was a good idea for Bearman given Norris’ first stint and Verstappen’s tyre management skills. I think he would’ve had better chances defending on track.

[–] PrincessKadath@ani.social 1 points 1 week ago

GOOOOOOO OSCAR!
