Gotta keep that contingency fund saved for important priorities like golden ballrooms for fat orange child rapists, crashing the us beef market, private planes for dog killers, and building Qatari luxury jets and bases in Idaho.

America first? Oh and

You can't forget $40bn to prop up the Milei in Argentina.

"Trump admin has money but opts to let babies starve instead"

[–] henfredemars 27 points 1 week ago

I truly don’t understand it. It must be a weird pedophile thing.

Even worse, he's giving it to Argentina, and building a stupid fucking ballroom that nobody wants.

There are only nine meals between mankind and anarchy.

I'm guessing they want people to riot so they can declare martial law. People who are hungry are much more likely to start getting violent than satiated people.

That means that roughly 42 million Americans will not receive critical food assistance

42 Million!! WTF!!
That's about 15% of the population on food stamps!
I wonder how many of them have actual full time jobs, but aren't paid a living wage?
Jesus Christ USA is a shithole country.

[–] despoticruin@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's worse than that because of how the poverty line is calculated based on the cost of food.

Sounds like a great plan, except that we stopped there.

Our poverty line is only calculated based on the cost of food. As is rent was free.

15% of our population couldn't even afford food if they didn't pay any rent at all.

Let that sink in and understand it's not hyperbole when we say we are fucked.

This is so sad, USA could be such a nice place, lots of space, lots of resources, several types of climate to suit any taste.
And USA is among the richest countries in the world.
And yet the American population chooses this?
I really hope something will happen to make Americans change their outlook on politics, towards something more socially responsible.

Here in Denmark we had a guy named Grundtvig, who in the 1800's were a key figure to turn the Christian view away from the doomsday mentality towards a more humane and positive version of Christianity, in part by writing beautiful uplifting psalms.

I hope USA will see a similar influence on American society in general.

I fully expect crimes like theft to go up due to desperation.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Also, if you rat out someone you see stealing from a grocery store, you're a piece of shit.

[–] teft@piefed.social 9 points 1 week ago

If you see someone stealing food, no you didn’t.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

If we don't shift from a Trickle Down Economy to a Trickle Up Economy, we are going to spontaneously shift to a Robin Hood Economy, where people just take what the need.

There are already signs of it starting with mass organized robberies, locked cabinets in stores, etc.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 week ago

They'll blame liberals.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 10 points 1 week ago

He's giving the money to Argentina to bail out the Secretary of Treasury's friends, who were stupid enough to invest in a country that has defaulted 20 times in the last 70 years.

If they are stupid enough to risk their fortunes on a country that goes bankrupt every 3.5 years on average, that's their problem.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago

And rightly so. Argentina needs that money more. /s
