Mirror

The scale of the meat assaults is such that they will never be shown on Solovyov Live. Disposable boys, like expendable material, just meat. They run, die, and it all repeats again and again.

Holy shit, I don't know why it just struck me so hard this time and not any of the other videos I've seen, maybe the immediate proximity. But those are people, like you and me. People with a home and probably a family, people that will see no benefit whether they win, lose, live or die. Human lives pointlessly thrown in the dirt because the Boss said so. Having "the enemy" humanized like that hurts in a special way.

Correction. They were people.

Something to keep in mind is that these people chose to fight for one reason or another. They made a conscious choice to join a war of aggression and imperialism for money, patriotism, desire to fight, etc. There aren't any innocents at this point that don't know what's happening or why the war is going on, they can't claim ignorance or that they didn't want to be there. They know fully well what's going on and chose to sign up anyway. These are not people like you or me because people like you or me wouldn't join a fight to subjugate and destroy another country for money. Feeling bad for human suffering makes you a good person, but just remember at the end of the day their goal is to conquer all of Ukraine and destroy its people through violence.

Weren't a lot of the Russians drafted? I understand that their nation is the one invading sovereign territory, and I definitely feel stronger about Ukrainian dead, but this video just kind of hit home. Idk why this one in particular.

I’m glad it hit you too, because it is brutal as hell.

At the same time: I came over an interview not to long ago, from a Ukranian soldier, saying allmost all the Russians claim to be forced into fighting when caught alive, right after fighting like hell tryingto take as many Ukranians down as possible. They also too often find videos on phones where the same bastards are seen celebrating killing civilians and taking over Ukraine.

I’m not saying none of them are there against their will, but actions speak louder than words.
My sympathy is non-existant for them, as a collective, sadly.

Currently, no there are very few conscripts in Ukraine. Most of the conscripts are used to defend border regions like Belgorod. What often happens is that conscripts will be given the option to sign a service contract after their conscription call up ends. If Moscow implemented a broad conscription effort to send troops to Ukraine it would be incredibly unpopular but as it stands now that's a possibility in the future because some articles I've read indicate that there's fewer people willing to sign contracts even with the rising amount Moscow is willing to pay.

Oh okay, I'll stop seeing them as humans then. All better I guess.

[–] doo@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago

They are humans and must be seen as such. The crazy part is that it's humans like you and me that decide to do terrible things.

After ww2 there was a question whether fascism is something specific to Germans, they have an unusual number of psychopaths, etc.

And the conclusion was that it's just normal people doing their everyday work. Be it accounting or operating a gas chamber.

Slip into fascism is gradual and no country is immune from that.

Are those ruzzian mothers and wives happy that their sons and husbands got killed for the FΓΌhrers war? They like it like that?

The Russian state has stirred up a strong and very irrational national-ethnic hatred of Ukrainians from what I've seen. Their continued resilience is an insult to Russian pride and chauvinism, so the nationalist will pay heavy costs to try to make them kneel. If there's criticism, it's that the leadership is not killing Ukrainians competently enough, not that killing Ukrainians or going to war is wrong.

Like that racket they tried of getting teenagers to firebomb the Ukrainian diaspora in Europe. Completely strategically irrelevant, and could only be motivated by hatred.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

That's a russian filming, right?

I mean he thinks he's the magic one winning the war and not being taken out?

Horrible but also fascinating.

Slava Ukraini!

In Russia, human life has no value.
