Be cool to each other. We'll welcome most occult themes, it's okay if you stray from witchcraft a bit.

No advertising. No trolling. No hate. Violaters will be removed unceremoniously.

We love art credits when possible.

A "religious party at school"? Wtf is that?

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 52 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It's a fake thing they made up for the story. Pictures can't be funny on their own, they need to reference some other meme so people know when to laugh!

[–] Bgugi@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago

Can confirm. Did some internet sleuthing and this was photographed at a Renaissance faire by "liquid Lindy photography" ( I'll spare you the fb link)

There are plenty of secular people who attend religious schools, and plenty of mostly-coopted religious holidays people could technically complain about (like Halloween), so the title isn't completely absurd

The creators of such pictures would be very mad If they'd read the comments under their posts and saw this one instead of masturbating to the amount of likes.

Lucky them. Personally I need text over my pornography to let me know when to stroke

Some weird midwest shit Id imagine.

[–] Dionysus@leminal.space 15 points 1 week ago

Yeah, lived in Texas for a bit, can confirm.

[–] FenderStratocaster@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I live in the midwest and this is not a thing.

That's not fair. I don't care what they say about you guys. I'm sure you have schools out there.

We're not Mississippi.

We got this thing here we call 'charter schools' which are used by private religious organizations to acquire public funding, which is redirected from public schools, to administer education.

We have those but they can't be religious and they have to accept everyone.

An instant red flag and the start of a new school search.

Fucking cult grooming kids again.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago

Halloween I assume? Hardly religious anymore though...

[–] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 28 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Is that a renaissance festival? It sort of looks like one I've been to, but they had concrete stonehenge-like structures around that seating.

[–] anthropomorphized@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's what I think, it looks like a jousting ring at a Ren Faire. The banners, the dirt field. I don't see anyone else dressed up to confirm. Maybe a different event on the faire grounds. The jousting ring at the Ohio Ren Faire has a low profile like this, but there are bleacher stands at this angle.

Between the jeaned people on the right, it almost could be armored horses/knights. I think OOP saw this and thought it would be a good idea for a religious event, but they probably don't actually have school aged kids to know it's really just prayers before games at public schools, not like bible camps or parties. Catholic schools, sure but you only go there if you're already catholic or your kid got expelled from the public school.in my experience

[–] knightly@pawb.social 2 points 1 week ago

I mean, she's being burned at the stake...

[–] Lifter@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 week ago

[–] CommissarKrieg@leminal.space 10 points 2 weeks ago

The rope is a nice touch.

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

I'd wear that if I had the idea or means of making it back when I had a social life.

I was noticing something weird, I think it is because it gave me a Ghost Whisperer scene vibes.
