[–] logflume@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago

He had one that rhymes with loon but they made him erase it

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 20 points 2 years ago

Could have said communist, crazy, callous, centralist, cancerous, etc. So many possible c words. They weren't sending their best.

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

I think he just genuinely didn't know how to spell oligarch.

[–] Orannis62@hexbear.net 28 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh my god I totally forgot about that time when Acorn was the chud cause celebre

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 11 points 2 years ago

I think it's end of the civil war/start of reconstruction.

frothingfash "The commies are talking down to you! I will prove it with my condescending classroom-style chalkboard prop!"

it's fucking crazy how these people are still angry at Woodrow Wilson.

where's the fucking democrat who's still angry at segregationists even (to be clear this is bad, but it's wild the difference in views toward history in the parties)

[–] JohnBrownsBussy2@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

A lot of libs and leftists also hate Woodrow Wilson for re-segregating the federal government and beginning the 1st Red Scare.

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wasn't the League of Nations his deal too? So imperialism that led to WW1 and Zionist mandate in British Palestine, add those to the list

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

He practically invented US imperalism in its modern form https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilsonianism

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Damn I hate this guy too now!

[–] emizeko@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

Since trade ignores national boundaries and the manufacturer insists on having the world as a market, the flag of his nation must follow him, and the doors of the nations which are closed must be battered down. Concessions obtained by financiers must be safeguarded by ministers of state, even if the sovereignty of unwilling nations be outraged in the process. Colonies must be obtained or planted, in order that no useful corner of the world may be overlooked or left unused.

—Woodrow Wilson in an unpublished paper of 1907, as quoted in The Rising American Empire (1960) by Richard Warner Van Alstyne, p. 201

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

90s conspiracy New World Order stuff was heavily based on the idea of the UN being an evil forerunner to One World Government(tm) that was taking away US national sovereignty. So Wilson was a special villian for trying to start the process earlier with the Leauge if Nations.

Glenn Beck was doing a rip off of Alex Jones Unified Conspiracy Theory/NWO shtick, which was all a rehashing of John Birch Society shit, which was itself a repackaging of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

[–] CoolYori@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago (2 children)

You know the sad thing is people wanted to mainline crazy so bad that Beck could not keep up. People swapped to Alex Jones who is a more pure source of crazy.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

alex-aware he was the original. Beck was a mainstream rip off

Imagine thinking SEIU is revolutionary in any way shape or form. Many of their employees aren't even unionized and they union bust their own people. I know a bunch of SEIU workers who were fired for trying to unionize in my area. They're the absolute bare minimum for a workers union and even calling them that is a stretch.

There was a point early on his TV show where he was actually fairly moderate and sane. It was before this, and I know it for a fact, because I was a little politics freak who watched his show during that period. He didn't get good ratings and he started getting real kooky with it. Or maybe I was just a chud, who knows.

[–] BeanBoy@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Early in the Trump years didn’t he try to go vaguely lib and then ditched that when trump was embraced wholly by the establishment

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 12 points 2 years ago

I do believe there was a "Glenn Beck, welcome to the Resistance" moment

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Yeah he went on everyone's least favorite Daily Show alumnus' show to talk about how important it was to mend the divide.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Lol, his first episode had a section of the screen that was zoomed in on his eyes

[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Fox News. Forgot he had that cnn thing.

[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah I stopped watching him while he was still at CNN, that's when he started getting kooky with it.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Ah, gotcha.

[–] DPRK_Chopra@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

You know that reveal was very satisfying for someone. I bet they shouted the answer out two seconds before he literally spelled it out for them.

[–] Spike@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Back then they were also talking about how Republicans have become extreme and that there was a time in the past when Republicans were sane and moderate. Like poetry, it rhymes

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Do you remember back in the day when Republicans would only take basic rights away from trans people, but now try to take away every woman's rights if they don't want to become a housewife? I remember when they used to be sane and moderate. maybe-later-honey

[–] Civility@hexbear.net 7 points 2 years ago
[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

I wish we were half as cool then as Glen Beck thought we were.
