Mullvad is what I use and I am very happy with them.
Proton VPN has a free plan with barely any restrictions.
Yes, this seems like a good option for OP to try first considering they don't need torrenting.
I should also have said I sometimes use it for MMO gaming, in case my ISP fucks up and I need to play for a week or so before it's fixed (it just happened this week). I didn't remember this when I wrote the thread
The free plan is very limited in terms of server locations so it might not be a good option for gaming.
I have some friends who've used Mudfish in the past. It's a tunneling service with a Pay-Per-Traffic mode which is affordable if you only need it occasionally.
Their free plan should be fast enough for MMOs. As long as it's not ultra fast paced like CoD
I'll try it then, thanks :)
Fines for streaming and not seeding ?
How long is "long term"? https://fastestvpn.com/ has a $40 lifetime plan, so that's probably the best value (assuming they stay around, but they've been around for a few years now).
I bought their lifetime license like 5 or 6 years ago, still works to this day. I wouldn't use it for anything other than piracy though, if you actually need a private and secure VPN, use Mullvad, Proton or IVPN.
you would or you would NOT use it for piracy?
Would use it for piracy, not if you need good privacy. It's good enough to avoid a complaint letter from your ISP when torrenting, but can you be sure that they don't sell your data to advertisers? I don't know. Will they respond to a law enforcement subpoena? Probably.
I'm more worried about the last point than the first. Stuff like Proton VPN wouldn't respond to a law enforcement subpoena? If you mean buying illegal things such as drugs I don't care; I'd use it for movies. I worry if this VPN may be good for pirating games even though I don't have plans to do that right now. I wonder if such a solution is better than an antimalware VPN?
Their life plan seems like a perfect solution, and if they don't have antivirus VPN bundled with M365 on Amazon Black Friday, or if you believe this isn't the best solution, that lifetime VPN may be good.
If you just want to stream, you could always use real debrid (or similar sevice) and Kodi. It also offers downloads through its service as well if you ever need it.
Windscribe custom plan or pro if you can lock any good offer (I got 29$/year last year).
I got surfshark for 2 years and gave it to all my relatives, it as unlimited machines.
this has been on my watch list for a while, seems like cheap and reliable but I've heard mixed feelings on reddit
I personally never had a single issue with it, speed, reliability etc. It integrates in FF and has standalone app for macOS, linux, win. android, but I remember reading some mixed reviews too.
