That's why Athens approach to developing both a strong mind and a strong body was better. Sometimes you need one, sometimes you need the other, most often you need both, or else you end up sending pointless unarmed meat waves and accomplishing nothing productive. Ukraine is Athens, and it shows on the battlefield.

We are very lucky they are so fucking stupid.

Worth remembering that Sparta's military prowess was motivated by their slave society. The soldiers were there to suppress the Helots. Even if the Spartans could launch an expedition they would always be tied down to keep the home front from rebellion.

This image is dumb. Sparta at least had fighting prowess. Russia is just taking credit for what the weather is doing.

Sparta's supposed fighting prowess is built largely on propaganda, rather than actual battlefield successes. Their reputation was built during a fairly short period in the 5th century BCE, and even then covered with all sorts of caveats, "In a fair fight," "if not outnumbered," "if nothing else goes wrong," and then those caveats themselves were proven hollow in the 4th century BCE.

Sparta's supposed fighting prowess is built largely on propaganda,

And a severe lack of sources too. There are entire battles that the Spartans supposedly won, that might not even have happened.

There is also this episode of the Punic wars when Spartans join Carthage and defeat Rome spectacularly
