Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

No wonder they went extinct. They all got eaten.

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 13 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Technically most of them got roasted.

The global firestorm gave them a nice natural smoky flavor that's unmatched to this day.

The great barbecue

I think you might have discovered the next sequel to Jurassic Park:

Giant food conglomerate realizes it can sell dinosaur meat on the cheap, and attempts to breed dinosaurs as a bulk chicken substitute! Horror ensues when they realize it’s not as simple as it sounds.

Pop a poppler in your mouth when you come to Fishy Joe's. What they're made of is a mystery. Where they come from no one knows. You can pick 'em, you can lick em, you can chew 'em, you can stick 'em; if you promise not to sue us, you can shove one up your nose.

A better story than Dominion, to be sure.

Dino shaped nuggies...taste like real dinos?

No. Chicken tastes like dinosaur

Dilophosaurus was delicious!

Chicken tastes generic, because the Chicken of tomorrow competition made them ballooney but tasteless.

So, no: they would likely taste better.

Btw, seems like US food generally has less flavor.

Alligator has to be really close

I heard so often that it does, but I have had alligator gumbo and it did NOT taste like chicken at all. Much closer to fish. And dirt.

Not really. Kind of but more... gamey I guess?

Edit: source: i live in Louisiana

Yes, this is spot on. There are definitely ways to cook it that can help ease home of that gamer-ness. I had alligator nuggets in Florida and really enjoyed them.

Ah shit. Gamers are delicious. They’re so salty from all their crying that they make for a nice savory snack!

On a serious note—I thought I changed it, but autocorrect wins. I’m leaving it.

I think of gator tasting like chicken, but with a hint of fish. Put that way it sounds revolting, but I do love it.

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Crocodile does taste somewhere between chicken and fish IMO, so alligator is likely similar.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Just commented about the exact description of gator. Where are you that crocodile is served?!

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago

You find it (rarely) on menus in Australia, and i swear i saw it frozen at the supermarket once.

Anyone here in the mood for a tasty, crispy, roasted Compsognathus?
