Just got the email about the demo. Going to try it out on my Steam deck this afternoon.
Star Trek
Welcome to a Star Trek community where you’re free to chat and share your opinions about all things Trek!
I want to have a place where fans can come to praise, discuss, and even criticise things in the Star Trek franchise. No show or movie is perfect, and I don't believe people should be silenced for having a dissenting opinion. That being said, there are still a few rules.
Be Nice - No personal attacks. You can disagree with someone's opinion, but it needs to stop there.
No Slurs - This is applicable to ethnicity, religion, gender, or anything else.
No Adult Content - Keep it family friendly.
No Spamming or Trolling - Consistently spamming comments or trolling is just not needed.
Keep Topics Trek Related - This is a Star Trek community, so of course discussion should stay in that area! That means no real world politics.
Sounds good! I'm still at work for quite a while today, but hopefully I have enough time to get it downloaded and try it this evening.
So far it runs great on steam deck.
Great! I use Linux for everything, so that's good to hear.
Thank you for the update! Im ready to play the second I get home
I just realized we never got an episode of Voyager where they couldn’t raise the nacelles.
It seems they're going to have a lot of variations of things that can happen, it should be interesting!
That's an easy install from me. Should be fun!
I'm stuck at work until this evening, but I plan to do the same when I get the chance.
I finished the demo last night, there is a keep playing option. However i had collected all of the dueterium and ran out of power.
The good:
- you get to play as Janeway and crew making decisions for Voyager.
The bad:
- The demo at least is 1:1 the first episode of Voyager
- UI not yet optimized for Steam Deck (you cannot move the cursor to UI elements to see what things are)
- When using the touchscreen of the Steam Deck the game switches from controller mode to M/K mode and does not always switch back
Hopefully the full version is much more open than this was.
Well hopefully they get some of that ironed out by launch! Presumably the story will branch out more once you make a few major decisions, but maybe it'll end up following the show and be more linear than I expected. I wonder if they'll support mods, that's usually something that can give a game a lot more replayability!
Is it pretty good? I started another project while I waited for it to download last night, and I was having fun with that instead!
Looks like you replied while I was typing up my very basic review. https://slrpnk.net/comment/18568356
