The gov needs to call up the Illinois National Guard to protect people from ICE thugs.

We are at war. It's important to remember the Civil War went cold. The Union tried to reintegrate them with no protections. This was kidnapping. Firearms were justified to defend her.

Ya. This is a civil war in non-name. Wild to be alive for this. Yet another once in a life event.

[–] StopSpazzing@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Like the 5 or 6th once in a life-time events for millenials. AI bubble will crash and be yet another.

[–] PissingIntoTheWind@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Chinese war lined up to relieve the economy just like the Iraq invasion. Gotta pump that economy.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 163 points 13 hours ago (6 children)

Is it time yet to admit that the Untied States is in the midst of civil war?

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

No. But this is certainly awful.

[–] Master@sh.itjust.works 173 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

There needs tolbe a second side for war. This is just our government persecuting innocents. No war here.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 71 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (5 children)

Has anyone just shot an ICE agent in the fucking head yet? Once that kinda thing starts happening frequently, we can talk about calling it a civil war.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

If that starts, Trump will attempt a serious and possibly effective takeover of the government. There's a reason there isn't violence being used to respond to his bullshit.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

There was an Ice agent shot by some armed folks that attacked a detention center a number of months ago.

One got away. It's hard to tell what happened to him because they were intentionally ordering the story to be covered up.

[–] STUNT_GRANNY@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago

If this was the attack you were referring to, ~~sadly~~ technically it was a local cop that was shot, not an ICE agent. And the cop survived.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 13 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

I'm still baffled that this hasn't happened. fucking 2A freaks just sitting back and watching. fucking do something about it for fuck's sake, you literally have people invading your communities and taking people and you just sit back and watch, it's disgusting

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 20 points 10 hours ago (3 children)

2A freaks are the ones who WANT this to happen, as long as it's not "their" people.

[–] Tinidril@midwest.social 11 points 9 hours ago

2A freaks, Jan 6ers and white nationalist militia members are the ones Trump recruited to wear the masks.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago

If that bothers you then gun shops are still open. There's nothing stopping you from doing what it seems like you want somebody else to do for you.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It's a white women named Debbie.

If we're going down the list of "Then they came for the...", there's not much left. First they came for the... US citizen white women? She graduated from Columbia College Chicago in Film and Video in 1998. Because they didn't like her?

They're accusing her of "assault on a federal law enforcement officer". It's just as likely, if not more likely, that the newscast (WGN) said something ICE didn't like and started targeting them.

This is a huge line they've just crossed. This is full, 100%, straight up Gestapo.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

She graduated from Columbia College Chicago in Film and Video in 1998.

There is a huge swathe of meatheads in this country that have been trained to feel that going to higher education is a bad thing.

I mean, ice has shot people, repeatedly, sometimes in the head

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 47 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah but its not a war until someone shoots back...

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 21 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Honestly they seem to be carefully avoiding the places most likely to shoot back.

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 13 points 10 hours ago

Weird how "law enforcement" always seems to avoid the places where they might get something more than a papercut.

Almost like they're cowards...

[–] CatsPajamas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 7 hours ago

Yeah they're conspicuously avoiding places like Arizona with their bullshit.

[–] killea@lemmy.world 24 points 13 hours ago (4 children)

Drump will then attempt to deploy the military nationwide, he's waiting for that. If there isn't a military coup at that point, it ain't happening.

[–] SalaciousBCrumb@lemy.lol 35 points 12 hours ago (3 children)

Trump does not need an excuse, he has lied and made up everything else to date without consequence.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 16 points 12 hours ago

He was on tv today saying what a disaster area Portland is in his delusional world

There plenty of time left in his legal term to come up with other excuses to do it.

We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless ― if the left allows it to be

The fact that that statement was never treated as treason or conspiracy to commit an insurrection is both disappointing and expected.

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 41 points 13 hours ago

Nah we need to keep generating court orders that no one will listen to.

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 14 points 13 hours ago

I’m using the invocation of the Insurrection Act and declaration of Martial Law as the demarcation point. When the military is literally waging war upon its own citizens in their own cities, it may finally become undeniable to the average person.

Pam Bondi was just talking about how ANTIFA thugs were beating up journalists. So, how did ANTIFA manage to infiltrate ICE like that? Someone's gor some explaining to do.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 21 points 11 hours ago

I lived in little village for 5 years and I have never felt was as dangerous as when ice started fucking things up.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 11 points 10 hours ago

Hey guys I heard on reddit that they get released when these things happen so this is completely fine. Sig Heil and all, er I mean um HOW DARE YOU SAY I'M A NAZI???

[–] foodandart@lemmy.zip 28 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

The comeuppance for all of this after the mid-terms is going to be frightening to ICE..

If (and this is a big IF) the mid-terms happen, vote.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 30 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

The ballot boxes got sold to the repubs, trump will win with 80% of the votes

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I think you mean 99.5%. The mask is off now, and I doubt they care much about preserving the illusion of democracy now that they think they're untouchable.

An Unmarked Van? Masked Unidentified Assailants? It's a GOOD THING these people aren't Kidnapping Children! With how much Trump's Administration LOVES Protecting Jeffrey Epstein and His associates that would be REALLY concerning!

[–] 8H2k2139@lemmy.ca 24 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

♥️ This is your daily affirmation that it's OK to shoot ICE agents in the head ♥️

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 2 points 7 hours ago

It's legal too, or at least what should count as legal for whatever that means these days. Anyone trying to tie you up without identifying themselves is potentially a kidnapper and needs a bullet in the face.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 20 points 12 hours ago

The arrest of Brockman comes one day after a judge responded to ICE agents’ recent violence in suburban Broadview by barring all federal officials in the Northern District of Illinois from using riot weapons “on members of the press, protestors, or religious practitioners who are not posing an immediate threat to the safety of a law enforcement officer or others.”
