The vet did an xray and didn't find any blockages. It turns out it is pancreatitis. She got into a brick of brown cane sugar (not sugar with molasses), and apparently that much sugar all at once for a dog is very bad, especially since she's 10 years old. We were sent home with some probiotics and instructions for her to eat a bland diet for a few weeks. The vet said she will be fine.

Yay!!!!

Yeah, gotta be extra careful with dogs and sugary things - they DO have a sweet tooth.

Many decades ago, my dad's black lab got into a grocery bag and ate a pound of grapes.

She laid on the floor under the kitchen table and groaned for hours while she was bloated and farting the Farts of Eternal Doom.

It was so not good..

That’s great ❤️

You’d be surprised how easy it is for humans to develop pancreatitis, too. My sister is a physician and has seen it all the time.

That's what the vet told me haha. He said especially around Thanksgiving when someone thinks eating a whole pie in one sitting is a good idea.

Thank you all for helping keep me company last night. It really helped me manage my emotions and stay sane.

A year ago my son's cat knocked down a chocolate pastry, and my daughter's dog ate it. I was so worried it was something like that.

Glad to hear she is okay

Oh my. Once, when Callie was a pup, she jumped on the kitchen counters and ate an entire box of oreos and a whole loaf of bread from the top of the refrigerator. She was... not feeling good after that. A few days of runny poop and low appetite and she was fine.
