Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

BAL KAN IZE! BAL KAN IZE! BAL KAN IZE!

This is so flagrantly illegal. Free travel between states is a very plain and well established constitutional principle. I wish this man a very freeze to death this winter.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 52 points 2 years ago (1 children)

comrade tree should have finished the job

[–] WIIHAPPYFEW@hexbear.net 30 points 2 years ago

The US if Greg stopped walking for a few seconds to pick up a penny on the sidewalk during the storm

I wish this man a very freeze to death this winter.

You are much kinder than I am. I can't say what I think because it would be big-time fed posting.

Literally a nullification crisis and the Biden admin does nothing. Useless liberals.

[–] CommunistBear@hexbear.net 42 points 2 years ago

tfw dark brandon was a meme and he won't be rolling tanks through Austin sadness

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 42 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I was going to make my typical joke that he'll give a speech about it but then I realized he won't even do that. Also - Biden's DOJ might send Texas a letter and if so - Texas will simply ignore it. Or maybe Abbott will tweet "Don't mess with Texas!" about it.

[–] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago

Biden's DOJ has sent in a silly letter. We shall neither print it nor reply to them.

someone should do a version of Papers Please with southwestern US aesthetics instead of anticommunist brainworms

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 48 points 2 years ago

I hate how all those games are just anticommunist garbage and the devs don't think maybe criticism of the society they live in is more pertinent

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 65 points 2 years ago (3 children)

biden could literally arrest this man, and the supreme court would probably uphold it. the democrats allowing this is the highest order of incompetetence. who could vote for people who won't govern and actively collaborate with the opposition like this?

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 50 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I can't stop thinking about yesterday when I Lemmy lib popped into my thread and unironically said...

I love people acting like a lone Senator can achieve anything.

Being a liberal means you lecture people to vote and then when the dems don't actually do anything - you lecture them more. And when a leftist points out that fish rots from the head and Biden the biggest problem then you tell that YoU dOn't UnDeRsTaNd HoW pOlItIcS wOrKs.

[–] emizeko@hexbear.net 34 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

if you really think about it, the important thing is that no changes are made that might reduce my material privilege

[–] 420blazeit69@hexbear.net 37 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

If you want to point out to libs how Biden could easily fix this, the hypothetical is that he could federalize the Texas National Guard and order them to tear all this down.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 36 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

An actually Dark Brandon: "I'm federalizing the Texas National Guard and I have instructed them to tear down the illegal barbed wire fence installed by the unhinged right-wing Texas governor. He put it up between Texas and New Mexico. I will not allow such a fence between states!..."

Lib Dark Brandon: Biden with laser eyes on a coffee mug.

[–] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Dark Brandon used to be a right-wing fever dream, and then the libs discovered it.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Distract a baby - jangle car keys.

Distract a lib - Dark Brandon!

It's so depressing to me how libs religiously follow and are totally outraged by everything related to Trump. They've made him their boogeyman but they refuse to accept the entire republican party is a danger to the country.

Scalise called himself "David Duke without the baggage" and he might become speaker soon but they yawn at stuff like that. Trump is all they care about.

[–] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

Scalise called himself "David Duke without the baggage" and he might become speaker soon but they yawn at stuff like that.

Libs yawned at David Duke too, baggage be damned lmayo

Libs are entranced to the Spectacle, both good and bad. If it isn't spectacular it never crosses the lib. X without the baggage is precisely (*sniff*^1^) what liberals want. He's signalling his anti-spectacular-ness. After years of Trump hysteria, it speaks to a genuine desire (*sniff*^1^) for a politics that doesn't constantly drive them to anxiety. The best way I characterize liberal "progress" is letting the old racists/bigots/etc die and society will "naturally" (*sniff*^1^) drive towards progress and Justice^2^. Its self-serving because they don't have to do anything. It's ahistorical; materially ignoring all the others in the past who actively fought for that progress. But I understand the desire for a calm.

^1^ It's *sniff* pure Ideology, you know zizek

^2^ This progress is a material force, which is why the Conservative counter-hysteria about progress has some truth. History Bends Towards Justice, but the liberal forgets the material hands (often bleeding) doing the bending.

[–] rubpoll@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

biden could literally arrest this man

Should, but shant.

and the supreme court would probably uphold it

Eh, 50/50

the democrats allowing this is the highest order of incompetetence

Yes.

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

Eh, 50/50

i was being hopeful since the relevant bit of the constitution is completely unambiguous but you're probably right lmao

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 42 points 2 years ago (2 children)

So the migrants are going to now instead cross the border at New Mexico, get some bolt cutters, then enter Texas

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 37 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Now, pardner, you just made a real good case why the good ol' Texas Rangers ought to op'rate cross state lines to protect the sovereignty of the Lone Star State.

[–] GrumpigPoopBalls@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The texas rangers are launching a special security operation in New Mexico

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

That's a joke, right? Right?

For Texas - sovereignty means whatever Texas wants to do.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

as long as they buy american made bolt cutters in new mexico, i dont see the problem. they'd be contributing to the US economy

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 41 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

They should just do this for the entirety of Texas' border. Fulfill the independent nation of Texas fantasy.

[–] ProletarianDictator@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

Texas saves the world by balkanizing the US

[–] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 36 points 2 years ago

Gotta keep those women from their gynecologist some how

[–] Cummunism@hexbear.net 32 points 2 years ago (2 children)

[–] daisy@hexbear.net 25 points 2 years ago (5 children)

Unfortunately the only American facility for building and maintaining nuclear weapons, Pantex, is in Texas.

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 26 points 2 years ago

Give it the same safety inspectors that fertilizer factory had and wait for the problem to resolve itself.

[–] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

Unfortunately the only American facility for building and maintaining nuclear weapons, Pantex, is in Texas.

I see nothing unfortunate here sicko-charging

[–] BennyHill@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 years ago

well you dont need them anymore after you used the nukes

[–] DefinitelyNotAPhone@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

Dumb question: why would a nuclear superpower have its entire nuclear arsenal-shaped egg collection in one very-close-to-a-bordering-nation-shaped basket? Obviously Mexico's not likely to take it out, but that seems like the kind of thing you'd want to diversify a little.
