Don't be absurd, no one's rich enough to just hand out eggs in this economy.

[–] ODGreen@lemmy.ca 13 points 6 days ago

Outside of the USA, many people can afford eggs. Don't generalize from a shithole country.

[–] varyingExpertise@feddit.org 6 points 6 days ago

The farm down the road has a freezer in a little tin shed with a money jar sitting on top and ten eggs are 2.50€, 3€ for large ones. So... you guys paying vastly more?

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Are eggs still expensive in the states?

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

They have gone down from the peak, and they're well stocked again, but I think they're going to stay at ~2x the previous prices and call it inflation instead of permanent price gouging.

How much is a dozen or flat of 30 where you are roughly?

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Varies. Today in California I saw $6.00 for a dozen basic to $12.00 for a dozen free range organic.

[–] ODGreen@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 days ago

Dang. Here in Canada there was a sale for $5.25 USD for 30.

[–] Liljekonvalj@feddit.org 7 points 6 days ago

5 fingers or 5 sausages?

Tbf, I wouldn't want scrambled eggs that have been close to body temperature for long. That sounds like a terrible gut infection waiting to happen.

That egg looks dry AF. Scrambled egg should be like lumpy custard.

So it's Al slob? Or Insider joke that I don't get?

[–] linkinkampf19@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Both, unless the person in the picture has five fingers and no thumb. It seems like an "homage" to Chris (Simpsons Artist) per another comment, which is amazing in its own right.

[–] Multiplexer@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 6 days ago

Wow, so talking about really obscure niche insider... Impressed that somebody got that reference and explained it!

Halloween is about to get messy this year.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 week ago

These anti-vaxxer spreading parties are going up a level.

[–] Pothetato@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Reminds me of a school Halloween event where you are blindfolded and have to go around feeling "brains" and "eyeballs" but it's just like spaghetti and grapes and stuff.

[–] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 week ago

Ah yes, Shabriri grapes, my favourite!

[–] urheber@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 week ago

Honestly...

[–] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

I have two children but I'm not that hungry. Can I donate my other handful to a childless person?

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Man, pocket scrambled eggs is the best

[–] prex@aussie.zone 2 points 6 days ago

I refuse to eat my scrambled eggs from a man pocket.
Oh, a comma. Sorry about that.

Egging 'em before they egg your house. Outstanding move

I'm guessing it's a joke about the Halloween candy tradition they have in the US.

[–] Blackout@fedia.io 6 points 1 week ago

In my part of the country we give out fried eggs

[–] SnoringEarthworm@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, right, that holiday.

Without context, this is just... fine? As long as they wash their hands first.

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Still, most trick-or-treaters probably expect something other than a handful of scrambled eggs.

[–] SnoringEarthworm@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I agree.

Halloween is the context.
I said it was fine without context.

As in, on a normal day where people are not trick or treating (and therefore expecting candy)... it's fine.

As long as they wash their hands first.
