The food aren't betraying you. YOU betrayed the food when you ate only the ones bad for your health to the point that led your body to not handle it anymore, while the healthy food was at your side all the time, but was ignored

Lactose is my lover who turned toxic but who I can't cut out of my life. Every now and again I send em a "u up", we reconnect, I end up with my asshole hurting. Wait am I still talking about lactose?

You know lactase pills exist, right? They're usually over-the-counter and should be cheap enough for an "every now and again" indulgence.

[–] ODGreen@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yep, I've been using them and it helps a lot. It's a good idea to try em for anyone who has issues with dairy. But sometimes it's a bit more than that, like a milk allergy.

An allergy is definitely the point at which I'd say that the tasty food really isn't worth it anymore ...

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Have you ever had ice cream though? It might actually be worth it.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I had some pretty bad shits. So no, not even ice cream is worth it.

Fair enough, I guess that's what this entire post is about.

Mine is coffee, I love it and used to drink so much but it's really started to mess with my stomach over the last few years. I've switched to tea which doesn't seem to cause digestive issues at all.

I was with you until the consumption of ear wax or ear wax substitutes.

Caffeine has already abandoned me, I still drink decaf but it's definitely not tasty enough to drink it without milk and sugar.

Negronis ... I've been into cocktails and bitter ingredients long enough that I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen for me. I do enjoy some cocktails with Campari, but more for tiki drinks like the Jungle Bird or Fairy Sugar Mama. Fernet Branca is the superior bittering agent IMO.

Weirdly enough, I used to like absinthe both undiluted and in the traditional water + heated sugar way, but I can't stand that concentration of anise flavor nowadays. The Fairy Sugar Mama is absinthe-based though, and it's the tits.

You've sent me spiraling. Now all I want in my life is some black coffee and a negroni

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I blame my body, not the food

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

The decaying meat husk that houses the miserable existence trying to break free is sad it can't eat as much deliciously processed food as it use to.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

My gut is such a whiny little shit nowadays.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

I used to eat so much vinegar filled food. Desperate

[–] ThatGuyNamedZeus@feddit.org 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

yeah, a lot of people who I thought were my friends, weren't actually my friends

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sometimes when you're young, you put up with the consequences of toxic friends because you can handle it and you just think that's what normal is.

[–] ThatGuyNamedZeus@feddit.org 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They weren't toxic when I was growing up with them. It was only when we all got to be drinking age and I didn't want to partake in any of it that the toxic behavior started.

reckless driving also made me grow apart from them. They called me a loser for caring about speed limits and safety...and wanting to keep my truck in good working order

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Are... are we still doing euphemisms for digestive problems?

[–] ThatGuyNamedZeus@feddit.org 9 points 1 week ago

I thought it said "friends" and not "food"

I'm very tired

[–] Eq0@literature.cafe 9 points 1 week ago

Porter beer 😢 (no idea why only porter… gives me the worst hangover even if I drink only half a pint with dinner) now I am stuck with the 0.2l, almost insulting…
