To go beat up hipsters with pet pigs who run the local tattoo parlor? Have these idiots ever stepped foot in Portland?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

No, they haven't. They probably believe the lies they spread that Portland and Seattle are burned-out war zones.

My father was SHOCKED when he came to visit me in Seattle from Georgia. Couldn’t believe it wasn’t a methed out hellhole

And being from Georgia, he would know

All the places that are far more densely populated and have a far higher gdp per capita. The small bits on the map that turn blue that they don't like.

It's against their new cults teachings to understand basic facts and so can't understand those blue dots are 90% of the countries econony

Same reason they look at the red/blue maps by county, see all that red and it validates the belief that the entire country is with them and the elections are being stolen. Can't fathom the fact most of that red is completely empty.

I've had coworkers ask me if it's safe to visit Portland, or if I feel safe around it.

It kind of blows their mind when I explain that they can't believe everything they see or hear about a city they don't live in.

Fox aired some old footage of the George Floyd protests and he thought it was current.

Certainly not to distract from the EPSTEIN FILES

Imagine being a high-school kid. You got talked into enlisting, sold on the dream of bravely serving your country, traveling the world, fighting terrorism, defending democracy wherever it is endangered... all the stuff they say to sell it. And then you get deployed to... Portland.

Imagine being a veteran in 20 years. "Where did you serve?" "Memphis."

If this weren't a violation of American norms, an abuse of power, an attempt to silence cities and states that push back on the Trump regime, and the precursor to the coming attempt to fully dismantle our democracy as we know it, it would actually be kind of funny.

What a wild headline for someone from 2012 to read, for so many reasons
