My aunt is trying to give me unsolicited dating advice. She is only about 15 years older than me, but the advice reads baby boomer. The man should pay, buy you flowers, open your car door, spoil you. What if I want to spoil a man? What if I don't even end up dating a man?

Her credentials include being in a ten year unfulfilling relationship and now a six month one where the guy has paid for mostly everything. I don't know anything about the guy, except he makes money and takes her out to dinner. Her view is that I'm a coward because I want to grow into myself more before I date someone. I think you should be mostly happy with yourself before you date someone, or you've got a big fat lesson in self-love coming your way. Haha

buy you flowers

I used to grow flowers to give to an ex of mine. She and her mum always complimented that they last so long. When she found out I didn't buy them she didn't like them any more lol.

Hahaha Jesus Christ man.

[โ€“] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Wow, that would make me love them even more! I've been wanting to grow more flowers for ages. Extended family are currently growing waratahs in the backyard and they are gorgeous.

Ex for a reason lol

[โ€“] Nath@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

What? Growing flowers is loads more effort than just buying them.

If I pay $60 for a bunch of flowers, that's something like 1-2 hours work. Growing them? No idea how long that takes, but I bet it's longer than that.

It constantly amazes how many boomer hippy feminists are all into men taking the initiative, men paying, men treating them like a princess, the women see it as a power move

it enrages me

and it also enrages me how many men believe it too , they also see it as a power move

No one is treating the other as an equal , no one is talking , making plans together,

and it's not normal, it never was , successful relationships were always based on respect and equality even if there was division of labour

also, we have stop measuring people and actions in monetary terms

the home grown flowers are beautiful

but so can shop bought flowers be beautiful

it's all about intent of the giver

and the values of the recipient

[โ€“] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

She's a millennial ๐Ÿ˜› but yes it enrages me too and I agree with you. I didn't love the movie Materialists, but it does exaggerate how materialistic modern dating is.

I have always, and will always look for an equal.

Not a slave at my whim nor a monarch who requires tribute.

I have finally submitted a slightly overdue assignment for my course. It's pretty rough, it's the last subject and I've really lost interest now. I just need to do one more assignment well enough to pass the subject and the Diploma is done though. I am looking forward to not having any more assignment deadlines hanging over my head.

Today I did 10,704 steps. I took the Minipeelers shopping for a gift for their dad (it's MrExPeelers birthday in a week or so) and we wandered all around Northland. When we got home I saw I'd done almost 8,000 steps, so I got out my trusty hand weights and did some step core and upper body exercises combined until I kicked it over the 10,000. Normally when I come home from an adventure with the kids I'm exhausted and want to go have a lie down, but my strength and endurance is slowly improving. Also my t-shirts seem to fit better. Yes! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Shopping is great cardio!

[โ€“] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Iโ€™ve been meaning to start doing weights and am inspired by your progress

Hair of the dog is something I have plenty of, anyone in need is welcome to grab some!

Wonderful! Please sling some my way.

And I've picked up a cold from the 9mn old niece. The green snot should have clued me in, but I would have appreciated some warning from BIL ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Children = magic germ collectors. Not a fun Pokรฉmon

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago

BIL and his wife would be quite shitty if we didn't attend the BBQ they're having at FILs place. So I'll go with a mask on and tissues up my nose and we'll see how they feel then ๐Ÿ˜‚

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Road has been tripped, birthday person birthday'd. Smoke washed out of sinuses and tent drying. Kitties predictably broke into the food robot. Way too much time spent near Boyo's horrendous ex whom we were unaware would be in attendance. Hilarious small child not taught the meaning of the word Fucknugget ๐Ÿ˜

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

teach them fartweasel. They can't get in trouble for that one per se, there's no rude words....but it'll piss the parents off no end

God practice is so tiring. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 over and over with the metronome.

Gah.

[โ€“] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It is, but I'm sure it will be worth it!

Man, this family. They get together and it's like the in-laws (myself, sils husband, bils wife) don't exist.

In-laws gotta stick together I guess ๐Ÿ˜‚ it would be easier if they didn't talk over us tbh.

I do love them, sincerely, but we're just accessories I guess ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hammock set up. Time to relax for a little bit before work!

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I believe the hammock was purchased from Temu for 15 bucks. Highly recommend if you've got a bit of space!

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago

still tired and in pjs, but already cleaned the kitchen, washed floors, put a load of washing on and am running the dishwasher

Blerghhhhhh :(

Edit: ok enough sooking. Off to the gym lol

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

When Melbcat went to the sunspot in the other room I sunscreened her nose and quickly changed the bedding. Then I took the chance to vacuum behind the bed and bedside table, and re-scrub a stubborn spot where a drink had spilled.

I had to use the loud vacuum and the scented carpet cleaner plus keep the furniture off so the carpet could dry (towels then air). Melbcat came in really quickly to investigate though. Sheโ€™s stressed about the rearrangement and tried to walk on the damp chemicals ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Iโ€™ve put a towel down with the furniture over it now and multiple windows and doors have been cracked the whole time to air out the perfume. Oh man it stinks. I have the kitty inhaler ready and will probably keep the fans on overnight.

My back definitely has an opinion about today.

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Pots got a bit dry but there are sproots.

I wish I had more energy for constructive activities

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I think you do lots of constructive things , they may be a small thing everyday but it's all adding up to good things

and I recall reading an autobiography by Bertrand Russell, writing about his method of creation

For a few years for a project he would study and study and get skills , then he would be tired, sated, feeling like he just couldn't do any more so he would rest on the project for 6 months.

That 6 months wasn't really rest at all, it was his mind working on how to use all the data and skills on his project, how to do his project, even changing what the project might be.

Then "rested" he would spend a few months in a frenzy of work .

But that study and rest was the real work, the getting it on paper was recording his work.

The black cat has been hanging around my place heaps and Iโ€™m not sure why. Is it the water, is he hunting, is he being social?

I canโ€™t work out if he needs help but I canโ€™t feed him or let him in. ๐Ÿซฉ

I hit our luggage suitcase last night and hurt my little toe. Now it's bruised and it hurts to walk a bit. I'm not sure if that means it's broken or not, but at least today will involve a bit of driving and not walking

I wish there was more good stuff on Tubi. I could try to crack into one of the books lying around but am kind of mentally tired and also canโ€™t really crochet while I read if I wanted to.
