New Communities
A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.
Rules
The rules for behavior are a straight carry over of Mastodon.World's rules. You can click the link but we've reposted them here in brief, as a guideline. We will continue to use the Mastodon.World rules as the master list. Over all, be nice to each other and remember this isn't a community built around debate. For the rules about formatting your posts, scroll down to number 2.
1. Follow the rules of Mastodon.world, which can be found here.
A. Provide an inclusive and supportive environment. This means if it isn't rulebreaking and we can't be supportive to them then we probably shouldn't engage.
B. No illegal content.
C. Use content warnings where appropriate. This means mark your submissions NSFW if need be.
D. No uncivil behavior. This includes, but is not limited to: Name Calling; Bullying; Trolling; Disruptive Commenting; or Personal Criticisms.
E. No Harrassment. As an example in relation to Transgender people this includes, deadnaming, misgendering, and promotion of conversion therapy. Similarly Misogyny, Misandry, and Racism are also banned here.
2. Include a community or instance title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities or instances all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.
3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.
Formatting
Please include this following format in your post:
[link text](/c/community@instance.com)
This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't
You should also include either:
or instance.com/c/community
FAQ:
Q: Why do I get a 404?
A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.
Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?
A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.

Will he trekkify us, or will we anarchize stamets? Stay tuned!
Oh just give it a day or two... can't make all the communities in one day...
I highly appreciate people making comm names that are more creative.
Hey, I try. Not that TenForward was much of a stretch of the imagination lol
Still infinitelly better than something like startrekmemes
Which was literally the first community I made on Lemmy World before TenForward so you shut up you
Be real. How long does it take you to make up a name in RPGs?
Like... 10 minutes? Last night I was making an Owlin Bard for a new campaign that I'm joining. His name is Owl Pachino. I'm a genius.
Nice one ha ha
I mean my main birdboi that I play on Tuesday nights is a 7'2 black-feathered aarakocra that's based off of a Raven. His name is Nevermore. My genius doubles.
🤜🤛 I DM'd for a Wizard with a raven familiar named Quoth
Great minds!
!TheShitpostOffice@lemmy.dbzer0.com
As a small note, Stamets, note that the communities in the body post using the ! format where added, but I had to manually subscribe to !TheShitpostOffice@lemmy.dbzer0.com as it was using a threadiverse link and I guess Piefed also parses the posts for ! links
I also added them all to piefed.social manually. I do that a lot. I am following all the 'discover' communities where people advertise, so pull them into piefed.social.
Nice, but I guess we should try to rely on the pulling mechanism, there won't be someone else like you on all the piefed instances
Indeed. tbh we need a "piefed federate" tool built really.
Thank you very much <3
Yeah, I probably should have just made the whole thing a text post and not a link post. I'll fix it
Good luck with those communities! I just registered them on https://lemmy-federate.com/ for you
Oh awesome thank you so much. Despite being on lemmy a lot I don't know what the hell I'm doing half the time
Will my shitposts be taken so seriously that whining commenters insist on citations? Will every shitpost be declared ai by the same whiners? Can I post an occasional pisspost?
tl;dr: will it be a real shitposting shitpost community?
It'll be whatever you want it to be, my dear. Only real rules are don't be a dick and don't post porn. Otherwise? Shitpost (or indeed pisspost) to your hearts content...
So many shitposts questions, as a shitpost noob, I'm learning a lot. Didn't know shitposting had so many nuances
I was practising.
Well done!
Will it have less, same or more facebook style boomer humor posts than the one on Lemmy.world?
I cannot control what type of content gets posted. You, however, have 5 posts. Add to that. Be the change you want to see in the world. If you wanna see other types of posts, show those posts! You'd be surprised at the type of change affected on lemmy just from posting. I know I was...
Edit: Sorry it sounded bitchier than I meant it
lol
Lmao even. No, I do get what you mean. I'm just not a shitposter and I make a new account every few months since moving data is so easy. Not that it means I do post a lot but it is a bit more than those five posts.
Edit: should maybe say, not under the same name before anyone starts playing detective... I like my online anonymity.
Nah, totally understood. I've got a buddy who does the same thing on lemmy actually.
Well I can't speak for everyone else but I try to get as shitposty as I can but across the board. Try to not get into a specific groove but spread the seed, shall we say
