Which says a lot about the quality of Fox "News" and their so-called "experts".

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

Obviously they would see Hitler as the good guy.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 14 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I mean Hitler did kill Hitler, that should count for something about getting into heaven.

[–] Unpeeled3828@sh.itjust.works 1 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

Thou shalt not kill.

[–] Fuckfuckmyfuckingass@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Buuuuut you also don't get to go to heaven if you kill yourself, idk how killing Hitler balances that out.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago

Call me crazy, but I don't think anything is going to get better in this country until we cancel anti-American propaganda networks on American television.

I've been around long enough to have witnessed Fox "News" and dipshits like Rush Limbaugh cause the current mania we're experiencing.

It really is all on them. It wasn't like this before they showed up.

Religion, a severe form of mental illness, is the greatest threat humanity faces.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Right?

If I said a flying purple people eater was my lord and savior and that flying purple people eater died for our sins but not before his father, a flying spaghetti monster, instructed an old man to build a space ship that a few humans and two of every animal on the planet (and I guess all the plants too) went on and orbited around the Earth while the flying spaghetti monster supreme being was fucking the surface of the Earth up and then repopulated the planet from space afterward and I went to a pineapple under the sea every Sunday to worship both the flying spaghetti monster and the flying purple people eater, who are actually the same being.....would you say I had a severe form of mental illness?

They walk among us. And they're clinically insane. And a lot of them have guns.

Exactly why we'll never find peace in the middle east. Too many people, whether from opposing religions or even the same religion, quietly listening to their invisible friends constant urges to bomb one another.

Trump is too stupid to coordinate window drops of rich people. Vance scares me as he isn't stupid...

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 1 points 3 hours ago

But he has less personality than the couches he's violated. He's not popular and that's all that matters to the maga base.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Any intelligence he allegedly possesses means nothing, Vance is completely leashed by Peter Theil. If Vance became president he wouldn't do one single thing on his own, without getting permission from Theil first.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago

Vance scares me as he isn’t stupid…

he's just so flexible. going from 'trump is hitler' to being his running mate puts the spinelessness of a sea cucumber to shame.

All the atheist collectively rolled their eyes at the same time.

[–] ours@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

If I believed in religion, I would be very mad at these idiots insinuating that a mass murdering dictator would have any chance of getting into heaven.

This Hitler restoration trend is terrifying.

[–] Likwidkat@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I’m afraid I’ll go to heaven

That’s why I’m hoping that I'm right

My biggest fear ain’t no red Devil

It’s being near you people all the time

I’ll be fine as long as you go somewhere else

That doesn't sound like it would fly even in the most religious communities.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 3 points 20 hours ago

I think it's based on an old quote of Hitler claiming to be Christian which is clearly on votes. But anyone can claim to be a Christian. By their fruits you will know them.

[–] Trigger2_2000@sh.itjust.works 1 points 19 hours ago

Only makes sense.

Where would Hitler feel more at home; Heaven or Hell?

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

[–] PissingIntoTheWind@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago

Hitler no longer exists. We do, and we have to confront the reality that people like Hitler still find their way into civic office where they can seize power and bring ruin to us all.

It's not a good thing for us to imagine a divine justice that balances out the evil wrought by persons past. It may be a brief comfort to suggest that Hitler burns in Hellfire, that Mengele, after living a long life as a fugitive, died a free man, that Heydrich's torment didn't end with his dying battle against sepsis, but in the end we have to come to terms that nature is unjust and if we want a world in which good folk thrive and wicked folk fail to survive, this is a society and an institution we'll have to create ourselves, from scratch.

And so far, we suck at it.

Better yet, ultimately we should recognize that people who make poor life choices are still surviving the best they could. In a working society, Hitlers and Trumps would not rise to power, and Heydrichs and Himmlers would not be able to exploit the biases of the system to elevate themselves to aristocracy-adjacent positions. In a working society, the only thing to gain with civic power would be the satisfaction of the fulfillment of one's duty to society... and that one gets to direct the movement of mountains and the construction of bridges for the betterment of all the community.

It's boring, but personally I'd rather constrain wars and torture and genocide to the confines of fiction. Make sports news, whether tragic or glorious, great again.

In other words, there is no justice. There's just us.

It's up to us to make justice a real thing, because there are no cosmic forces that will do it for us.

[–] Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah... God once told Peter "whoever kills this Hitler dude goes straight up, no questions asked".

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

God later blamed a bac of .12 for his decision, and brought up how awkward it was to have his Jewish kid keep running into Hitler.

[–] Burninator05@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (11 children)

Let's assume god was ok with someone ordering the extermination of an entire group of people. Hitler died by suicide and the last time I checked that was still a no-no.

All the cool people are in Hell.

There appears to never have been any thought by the oligarchs that have brought us this fascism that it did not work. That giving absolute power to one person is a mistake even when that person isn't a deranged asshole to start with.

It didn't work for the rich people that wanted to protect their investments from the Socialists, and that is about exactly what is going on here, our rich were so scared of a little moderate reform that they created a monster they cannot control that will destroy them if they get what they want destroy them one way and or another.

They think they are in charge, that they will never run afoul of the supreme leader, that the supreme leader will not tank the economy in 12 different ways, and go ahunting oligarchs to seize their assets. All very mistaken and all going to happen sooner than later.
