EU sanctions against Russia prohibit trade in many goods and services, but real estate purchases remain permitted.

Several states, including Finland, Latvia and Lithuania, see this as a threat to their national security.

Our research shows that Cyprus had already overturned a planned ban at EU level.

In Germany and at the EU level, there is a lack of information on how many properties belong to Russian citizens and whether they are located near critical infrastructure.
