Is this really unpopular? Rightwingers certainly seem to agree with this.

That said, there's "not being vegan or vegetarian" and then there's "eat so much meat and dairy that it's significantly deteriorating your health", and the latter seems to be the standard for most people in wealthy countries. And as a species, we can't afford to eat like this if we aren't fine with mass casualties and being a global extinction event (vegan agriculture kinda already does that anyway, but it would be much less severe).

I see a bunch of carnivore diet stuff here.

I see that stuff once in a blue moon here. The vegans, meanwhile, seem to be in every thread

Weird how there's not a single comment here that says that people should never eat meat, if there's vegans in every thread.

Most people in the west eat 70-80 percent plant based already, even the republicans.

eat so much meat and dairy that it's significantly deteriorating your health

Meat by itself with not hurt your health, it's all the things people eat along with meat that hurt health (in a McDonald's value meal it's mostly the coke, fries, bun, and oil), or in bbq the sugary sauces

Eating the meat is the end of a process that most people don't get have a chance to actually look at. Some of those factory farming companies have actively lobbied to make it illegal to take pictures while trespassing for reasons. And I mean, trespassing is already a problem, but making a specific law

That being said. I don't have an issue with both hunters and smaller farmers who have animals out in a field that are to be used for the purposes of eating. Since we've removed so many predators of deer, culling them is as much for their own benefit as it is for our own meat eating wants. Unchecked they literally overpopulate so hard they run out of food and then start dying off to starvation.

Of course, I'm personally hoping that lab grown meats are sustainable enough that they'll take over the meat industry as it currently stands.

The problem isn't eating meat. The problem is industrialized farming of that meat that leads to deforestation, pollution, and animal cruelty.

Go buy yourself some farm animals to eat. That's cool now, isn't it?

Humans were built to eat meat

Eventhough it's historically true, that humans ate meat, the appeal to nature is a fallacy. That's like saying humans were build to live in caves. Should we all not live in houses then? I'd be interested in how eating meat is valuable in your opinion. I wouldn't say eating meat is cruel in itself, but I think the vast majority of meat people eat is from animals that didn't have a good life. I also eat meat and I can accept the animal cruelty, but to say it's not there or good is another thing.
