Sometimes I try to click on the upvote icon that’s there only to display the number, not to actually use as a button, then I realize. I think it’s a bit redundant to have it displayed twice.

My suggestion is to put the number next to the button on the right and remove entirely from the left.

Totally agree on this one, with a small adjustment. Keep the vote counts on the left and make icons into buttons. Then it matches the presentation when you view the post and comments.
