On my Orders, the Secretary of War ordered a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization conducting narcotrafficking in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was trafficking illicit narcotics, and was transiting along a known narcotrafficking passage enroute to poison Americans. The strike killed 3 male narcoterrorists aboard the vessel, which was in international waters. No U.S. Forces were harmed in this strike. Oh no, just like the War on Drugs, this is pretext. Trump's trying to claim any small vessel exiting Venezuelan waters is "drugs" so he can have seeming pretext for an invasion. He's super pissed Maduro got elected, and I wouldn't be surprised if he uses an occupied Venezuela as a launching pad to try against Brazil, because he's also super pissed Bolsonaro wound up in prison.

Of course, this assumes that he lasts that long. Most of this is driven by Trump's ego specifically, and I doubt the impetus for war would survive much longer than he does.
