Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

MODERATORS

New York Mayor Eric Adams did not mince his words about his disapproval of what he called the large number of “nasty” Gen Z voters supporting Zhoran Mamdani, the democratic socialist candidate leading the race for NYC mayor.

I mean, I am radicalized, hate this country, and am nasty. So I guess he’s right.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

I'm kind. I am not nice.

Better title: Pathetic man sees is power slipping away and lashes out.

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 months ago

I mean, when you put it that way.... Maybe the kids are alright after all.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 6 points 6 months ago

After all the bullshit that the conservatives pulled, I am certainly radicalized all right. My love for the country is conditional on it not being shit.

So far, the vast majority of our leaders deserve the bowl, and in dire need of flushing.

There is no future that is not radical. Radical change for the better, or total irreversible climate collapse under petty feudalism.

The status quo is fucking us.

Same rhetoric Trump voters used against non-trump voters. So weak minded

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

I hate the country like I hate my galvanized plumbing. It's based on archaic, inaccurate ideas and it's ruining the entire house so I'm replacing it with functional plumbing. Until then, I still need it to carry my piss and shit away.

The use of the word "nasty" . I mean when do intelligent people say that? When's the last time anyone reading this post said " that salesperson is nasty" or " that price point is nasty"? Five year olds say shit like that ...Trump has dragged down language for the dumber half of the country and now they all have poopy pants. Freaking grow the hell up and get some eloquence in your conversation. /Rant

ACAB. Fuck this traitor

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Ate those lines fed to him from the White House right up, huh.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Maybe Eric can arrange for his supporters to, y'know, sit it out in protest of this flagrant display of anarchy! Yeah, that'll work!

you have no regard for the civility

I don't know under what rock he's lived for the past 10 years, but civility in politics has been quite thoroughly killed by Trump and his lackeys, which now seems to include Adams. He picked the side of no civility, so he's reaping what ue sowed.

Adams accused left-leaning schools and institutions of radicalizing young people, claiming they are being taught to hate their city and country, which is a trend, he says, that must be addressed.

Again, Trump is doing that. He's running on a platform of hating about half of all Americans, and especially coastal cities.

"Nasty" as in "Dare to oppose him"

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 months ago

I'm nasty in that I hate your country, too. which I guess makes me radical

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

I mean, he's mostly right.

[–] Sundiata@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

sounds like he's been around trump too much.

And because of this, I hate Eric Adams. We need to redo the democratic party and replace the current stooges with people who are hungry and are ready to fight. Democratic Socialists need to have a chance to prove themselves. They must win.
