Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

New York Mayor Eric Adams did not mince his words about his disapproval of what he called the large number of “nasty” Gen Z voters supporting Zhoran Mamdani, the democratic socialist candidate leading the race for NYC mayor.

Ah yes, great move. This tactic of insulting your opponent's supporters has been tested and proven effective in many political campaigns. Proven to guarantee you lose, that is.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 15 points 6 months ago

Hmmm, nasty, now where have I heard that word before...

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 15 points 6 months ago

Guess what buddy, all of those so-called nasty voters are going to vote for whoever the hell they want, and you can call them names, but they don't give a f*** what you think.

[–] Toneswirly@lemmy.world 15 points 6 months ago

hell yeah I'm a nasty boy. I want all shills, pedophiles and sycophants to get the fuck out of office.

The capitalist in decline screams for attention yet the worker knows what they have done and affords them no sympathy.

[–] goombakid@lemmy.world 14 points 6 months ago

This sounds like an "OK, boomer" kind of moment.

[–] CaptainBlinky@lemmy.myserv.one 14 points 6 months ago

Welp, now we know how Adams feels about the very New Yorkers he wants to "represent."

[–] MangioneDontMiss@feddit.nl 14 points 6 months ago

Eric Adams is a corrupt piece of shit and it amazes me that he has not been forcibly dragged from his office by now.

[–] TheJesusaurus@sh.itjust.works 13 points 6 months ago

"Hey, I'd really like to afford a house and a family some day while staying in the city I grew up in and live"

"Fucking radicals"

[–] Cocopanda@lemmy.world 13 points 6 months ago

Oh well. I see an Uncle Tom when I see one.

[–] SwingingTheLamp@midwest.social 12 points 6 months ago

Older than Gen Z, but started hating the U.S. when I was their age. All talk about "freedom," but the moment you try to do something different than the crowd, some people will non-figuratively threaten to murder you.

‘nasty, radicalized and hate our country’

Based, based, and turbo-based

[–] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 12 points 6 months ago

See, Adams may be a corrupt oligarch, but the real criminal in his eyes are people who are rude to him in public for it.

[–] npcknapsack@lemmy.ca 11 points 6 months ago

I'm pretty sure the old always say the young hate the country.

"Get off my lawn!" "Those youths with their [insert sexual trend here] are destroying the country." "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!" "Those young people hate the country!" "It's Patrick, he just got life insurance."

That's because people like you have made them that way fuckface

[–] Runaway@lemmy.zip 10 points 6 months ago

Really not giving much reason to love the country lately

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 9 points 6 months ago (7 children)

It should be etched in law that it's prohibited to call the voters of your rival anything bad as it only serves to cause a division in the country.

Nothing like a senior citizen yelling at kids for checks notes wanting to vote for their preferred candidate.

[–] MantisToboggon@lazysoci.al 9 points 6 months ago

Did he make this statement on a Turkish airline?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 9 points 6 months ago (2 children)

He is just afraid of ending in the unemployment line. As a professional politician, he has no real moneymaking skills in the real world.

This country was founded on the idea that the New York mayor is a corrupt piece of shit. I will not be accepting arguments otherwise.

[–] Ordinary_Person@lemmy.ca 8 points 6 months ago (3 children)

That country is never going back. Once the politicians doing this shit becomes the norm, it's all over.

Is anyone except Donald Trump himself with Eric Adams?

Everyone saw his open corruption and as near as I can tell he has some nothing to endear himself to anyone and his platform is basically "well I should be mayor..."

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

That's sure to get you more votes, moron.

[–] mondomon@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

Well maybe Eric Adams should mind his own fucking business.

[–] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 7 points 6 months ago

Eat shit, Eric.

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Brit tabloid? In my news comm????

I'm certainly biased, but why does it feel like England is the birthplace of tabloid trash reporting?

This asshole is almost identical to Donald Trump. Who the fuck would vote for this guy?

[–] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

See, Adams may be a corrupt oligarch, but the real criminal in his eyes are people who are rude to him in public for it.

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So not everything is "radical" instead of "socialist" now? Has anyone told Fox to change their dog whistles?

Sort of ironic since Mamdani is an actual Democratic Socialist.
