Around 800 detainees showed no record on ICE’s online database. More than 450 listed no location and only instructed the user to “Call ICE for details” — a vague notation that attorneys said could mean that a detainee is still being processed, in the middle of a transfer between two sites or about to be deported.

Hmm, I wonder if we could draw a parallel to a similar regime in the past that imprisoned various undesirables in illegal prisons, from which the prisoners never got out and were never seen again...

Oh, sure, the boarding school system that murdered hundreds of native children seized by this same govt, as well as the Canadian one. I mean, you can also look to big efforts like Germany, but don't forget a lot of that was inspired by the US and our evil methods of legally dehumanizing people.

Alligator Auschwitz

People who get sent to Concentration Camps disappear.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 71 points 5 days ago (2 children)

It seems like there are two possibilities: there are hundreds of people who are missing, presumed killed and the bodies are disappeared in the swamp

Or

The ICE program is far less successful than reported and the amount of people doomed to Alligator Alcatraz is inflated.

Given how inept this regime has been and how frustrated Stephen Miller has been over his incapable gestapo, the people likely never existed. Numbers were likely made up to make the bosses feel good.

An important thing to note about the source I used is that the Washington Examiner is a right wing rag that supports Trump. So seeing the news creep into the right wing echo chamber means it can't be ignored. Stevie is big mad others aren't as blindly racist

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 17 points 5 days ago

I hope so. Seems like the kind of thing they’d do.

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Edit: derp, it's fucking ICE that has no records, so my idea makes no sense. Who knows with that fucking circus.

I can think of a third possible option: some are hiding or have fled the country. If I was illegally detained, put into a concentration camp, then released, I'd fucking disappear posthaste.

Not sure of the likelihood, but one can hope.

amp links never go to the actual site, they are a google cache. Here is a real one, https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/immigration/article312042943.html

[–] M137@lemmy.world 20 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Hey CubitOom@infosec.pup please fix the link, it's been years since most people stopped posting AMP links, after others spent years sharing this info and teaching the world not to do it. There are hundreds of articles, videos etc. about why amp is a bad thing.

[–] CubitOom 17 points 5 days ago

Hey sorry, I've updated the link

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Is there an easy way to convert an amp link to the original?

[–] antonim@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 days ago

In most cases, including this one, it's enough to just replace the amp. with www. in the URL.

Borrego’s family were at their wits end trying to find him, Fernandez said. “This is like psychological torture,” she said. “Where’s the humanity?” Finally, after more than a week, they heard from Borrego again. But he wasn’t in California. He was 2,000 miles away from where ICE said he would be. Borrego had abruptly been deported to the Mexican state of Tabasco.

How the actual FUCK did they lose him in transit and somehow send him to fucking TABASCO, MEXICO??? He's from fucking Cuba! These are the dumbest, most incompetent Nazis ever.

[–] Amberskin@europe.pub 22 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Are you sure that is incompetence and not a cruel, criminal system working as intended?

[–] Dogiedog64@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Oh there's definitely cruelty there, absolutely loads of it, but this also screams "We're so incompetent we shouldn't be trusted with anything!!!"

They:

  • built that abortion of a facility in a week
  • bragged about how shitty and awful it was nonstop
  • IMMEDIATELY failed to do even basic logistical work to support the facility in any capacity (definitely cruel, but also incompetent)
  • lost track of 50% of their charges AS SOON AS THEY LEFT FOR ANY REASON
  • failed at providing any documentation on any of their charges as soon as they left, as well
  • somehow lost MULTIPLE PEOPLE MID-TRANSFER, directly before court dates they were scheduled for, only for them to not only NOT ARRIVE where they were supposed to, but to ACTIVELY have been deported by mistake, and to the wrong countries

Say what you will about cruelty, it's all certainly true, but this belies a level of absolute apathy, and even contempt, for any sort of logistical prowess and even basic record keeping. The ACTUAL NAZIS, the Fascist dictators these dipshits seem so keen to want to be seen as, were fucking EXCELLENT at keeping records. These are the laziest, most incompetent, most "schoolyard bully whose dad is drinking buddies with the principal" Fascists anyone has ever SEEN.

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago

If you keep records, people can be found.

If you deport people to their correct country like Cubans to Cuba, then they might be able to access resources. If you send a Cuban to Mexico then they are a fish out of water. They will start sending Venezuelans and Mexicans to an African country so that they're less likely to show up in there original country get taken advantage of and possibly be enslaved.

[–] hdnsmbt@lemmy.world 26 points 5 days ago (2 children)

No, you shouldn't "be concerned", you should be storming the place. I'm about done with this constant passivity. You need to stop waiting for something to happen because the only thing that's going to happen is some new bullshit. You have the numbers to change shit.

[–] philosloppy@lemmy.world 20 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

The vast size of the US is doing a lot of work to keep things from boiling over. there's a reason these loci horridus aren't in New York or California or even Texas, where most people live.

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 1 points 4 days ago

You just have regular for profit slave camps that you call prisons.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago (2 children)

wanna bet some of the "alligator" detainees went to some of the for-profit prison in some of the red states.

[–] philosloppy@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

You're way more optimistic about it than I am, I'll give you that.

they would be in the BoP database

[–] CubitOom 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I think it's only really reachable by plane.

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago

I guess we will all just have to t swift it over there.

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago

Nothing to see here, just nazi machine in startup mode

[–] Captainautism@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 5 days ago

Mass graves…

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 17 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

puts tinfoil hat on

9/10 chance ICE harvested their organs

[–] ericatty 4 points 4 days ago

Or trafficked.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 26 points 5 days ago (3 children)
[–] Triumph@fedia.io 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

ARE YOU SAYING THEY WERE ALL GENIES???

[–] Thorry@feddit.org 2 points 5 days ago

It would explain how all of them were Kung Fu fighting

[–] miguel@fedia.io 16 points 5 days ago

*Another American Genocide.

Bunch of kids are being disappeared to the new island Trump is setting up for Maxwell

[–] TuffNutzes@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

Literally disappeared by the Trump regime's secret police force.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

We need a thorough investigation into this with either every last one of these people found or an administration official charged with their death

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 14 points 5 days ago

It was probably the plan the whole time... Build the place somewhere they knew I couldn't be just so they could claim people went missing during the shutdown.

[–] cyberwitch@reddthat.com 9 points 5 days ago

I saw a drone pic some months back where they were standing in an SOS formation. Time to try another flyover? I'm sure the airspace is controlled though

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 5 days ago

Yeah we all knew they were going to be sent to concentration camps and treated worse than animals.

Republicans voted to torture immigrants and their families all because they were told they are all criminals and eat your pets.

What an insane time to be alive.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

They were trafficked into literal slavery.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 7 points 5 days ago

They are dead

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Basically, trump is training his private army (ICE) on immigrants.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago

Are we sure they actually left?

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Just about have to
