There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Ukrainians and Israelis are big dick alpha males, they don't give a fuck about shit and kill anything that stands in their way. The USA used to be like that before all the men got injected with soy and we elected a communist who stole the election, Brandon. Now the USA doesn't even want to invade Mexico and do a genocide. As a PUA I'm moving to Tel Aviv so some of the machismo of an IDF general who looks like a bad guy from an 80's action move rubs off on me. I need to break my nu-male conditioning and get my ass into a hustle and grindset like Zelenskyy.

I have to avoid saying what I feel or I'd be fed posting all day long.

Hospital patients spent part of the night on the street in Gaza, medical aid group says

Patients and medical staff of Al Awda Hospital in Gaza spent part of their night on the street “with bombs landing in close proximity,” following Israel’s orders to evacuate the facility, the medical aid group Doctors Without Borders said.

Scott Hamilton, a spokesman for the aid group, which is known as MSF, said some of the medical staff and all patients have been moved to another location.

“But the situation remains extremely complicated and chaotic,” he told The Associated Press. “We call on Israel once again to cease the indiscriminate bloodshed, withdraw their ultimatum.”

Irish news RTE gives the Israeli ambassador a hard time. I would clip it but I don't know how to clip RTE. If anyone does know how please do because I can use it elsewhere.

Interview starts around 28:00

The full segment on Palestine starts at 19:25 but it's really only the ambassador interview that's interesting.

Head of Gaza’s largest hospital says 35,000 people are sheltering in hospital complex

Medical officials say an estimated 35,000 people have crammed into the grounds of Gaza City’s main hospital, seeking refugee ahead of an expected Israeli ground offensive.

Mohammad Abu Selim, general director of Shifa Hospital, confirmed that massive crowds had thronged the building and the courtyard outside. Shifa is the largest hospital in the entire Gaza Strip.

“People think this is the only safe space after their homes were destroyed and they were forced to flee,” said Dr. Medhat Abbas, a Health Ministry official. “Gaza City is a frightening scene of devastation.”

The Israeli military has ordered roughly half of Gaza’s population, including all of Gaza City, to evacuate as it prepares to send in ground forces.

Israel has been bombing Gaza for the past week, killing more than 2,200 so far in response to a cross-border Hamas attack that killed over 1,300 Israelis.

Miller declined to characterize Wang’s response, but said the U.S. believes it and China have a shared interest in Middle East stability.

Does china even need the capitalists anymore? They legit have enough productive forces to rely entirely on a collective planned economy.

Although getting rid of the international capitalists will not be easy

Just a theory but the massive false alarm yesterday in Israel's north that was called a "technical error" actually strikes me as an intentional full scale test of their entire system.

Probably wanted to test it was working in all areas and didn't want to jump through all the hoops of announcing a test first.

US must be ready for simultaneous wars with China, Russia, report says

https://archive.ph/Ii7OE

spoilerWASHINGTON, Oct 12 (Reuters) - The United States must prepare for possible simultaneous wars with Russia and China by expanding its conventional forces, strengthening alliances and enhancing its nuclear weapons modernization program, a congressionally appointed bipartisan panel said on Thursday.

The report from the Strategic Posture Commission comes amid tensions with China over Taiwan and other issues and worsening frictions with Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

A senior official involved in the report declined to say if the panel's intelligence briefings showed any Chinese and Russian nuclear weapons cooperation.

"We worry ... there may be ultimate coordination between them in some way, which gets us to this two-war construct," the official said on condition of anonymity.

The findings would upend current U.S. national security strategy calling for winning one conflict while deterring another and require huge defense spending increases with uncertain congressional support.

"We do recognize budget realities, but we also believe the nation must make these investments," the Democratic chair, Madelyn Creedon, a former deputy head of the agency that oversees U.S. nuclear weapons, and the vice chair, Jon Kyl, a retired Republican senator, said in the report's preface.

Addressing a briefing held to release the report, Kyl said the president and Congress must "take the case to the American people" that higher defense spending is a small price to pay "to hopefully preclude" a possible nuclear war involving the United States, China and Russia.

The report contrasts with U.S. President Joe Biden's position that the current U.S. nuclear arsenal is sufficient to deter the combined forces of Russia and China.

The arsenal's makeup "still exceeds what is necessary to hold a sufficient number of adversary targets at risk so as to deter enemy nuclear attack," the Arms Control Association advocacy group said in response to the report. "The United States and its allies must be ready to deter and defeat both adversaries simultaneously," the Strategic Posture Commission said. "The U.S.-led international order and the values it upholds are at risk from the Chinese and Russian authoritarian regimes."

Congress in 2022 created the panel of six Democrats and six Republicans to assess long-term threats to the United States and recommend changes in U.S. conventional and nuclear forces.

The panel accepted a Pentagon forecast that China's rapid nuclear arsenal expansion likely will give it 1,500 nuclear warheads by 2035, confronting the United States with a second major nuclear-armed rival for the first time. The Chinese and Russian threats will become acute in the 2027-2035 timeframe so "decisions need to be made now in order for the nation to be prepared," said the 145-page report.

The report said the 30-year U.S. nuclear arms modernization program, which began in 2010 and was estimated in 2017 to cost around $400 billion by 2046, must be fully funded to upgrade all warheads, delivery systems and infrastructure on schedule. Other recommendations included deploying more tactical nuclear weapons in Asia and Europe, developing plans to deploy some or all reserve U.S. nuclear warheads, and production of more B-21 stealth bombers and new Columbia-class nuclear submarines beyond the numbers now planned.

The panel also called for boosting the "size, type, and posture" of U.S. and allied conventional forces. If such measures are not taken, the United States "will likely" have to increase its reliance on nuclear weapons, the report said.

I just had a sickening thought.

Israel flattens Gaza City to the ground. And they say their goal of crushing Hamas "remains to be fulfilled". And then they keep moving south destroying everything in their wake. They keep forcing Palestinians to flee south. And those who can't flee - the old, the sick, the infirm, etc. - are killed.

And every once in a while Israel says "Nope. We aren't done crushing Hamas yet. It's funny how that works, right?" Finally after killing 10,000s the continuing bloodbaths have pushed nearly 2 million terrified and exhausted Palestinians all the way to the open desert at/near the Egyptian border. But - of course - Israel keeps shelling the border guaranteeing they can't get out.

The media has gone on and on about the "difficulties of urban warfare" that the IDF faces. Well, there are no "difficulties of urban warfare" when you're terrorized millions of people and made them flee dozens of miles to the open desert where there's no place to hide and there no longer any place to go. I don't even want to imagine what happens at that point.

If you think because people are rightfully calling for the violently dismantling of israel is 'kids acting out revenge fantasies' you are the exact same as people who call others antisemetic for criticizing israel

change my mind.

I watched Hearts and Minds for the first time last night. Brutal stuff. I didn't realize that this film is where Westmoreland said "Life is cheap in the Orient." Another lowlight - the former POW who came home to New Jersey to tell schoolchildren that Vietnam would be beautiful, if it weren't for all the people. (He's still alive.)

Read contemporary reviews of the film, and you'll see that even more nothing has changed - it's criticized for having too black-and-white of a take on a "convoluted" issue (something preemptively debunked by Daniel Ellsberg in the film, when he says, "The question used to be: might it be possible that we were on the wrong side in the Vietnamese War? But, we weren't on the wrong side. We are the wrong side.").

A great Palestinian documentary, 5 Broken Cameras, received the exact same reviews: "An NPR review of the film noted that it 'is unabashedly pro-Palestinian, an indictment of Israel's settlement policy that never examines either the settlers' claims or the security forces' point of view'." (It's a film from the perspective of a Palestinian farmer, you shitheel.)

Current Rybar sitrep:

spoiler

Near the Gaza Strip, clashes continue between the Palestinian militants still remaining on Israeli territory and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The Israeli military-political leadership has announced plans to completely destroy Hamas and is talks with the opposition to create a single emergency government to legitimize its actions in the fight against the groups.

🔻North direction:

▪️ In recent hours, sporadic fighting took place in Zikim and Sderot, and paratroopers from the Tsankhanim brigade arrived in the area. In Shaar HaNegev, there were exchanges of fire with scattered groups of militants, who managed to kill at least four Israeli soldiers.

▪️ IDF fighters intercepted the militants near Kibbutz Kfar Az, preventing them from entering the village.

🔻Eastern direction:

▪️There are shootouts in the villages of Alumim and Nirim. Information about local battles is confirmed from time to time by IDF reports of the liquidation of one or two militants.

▪️ Small groups of Palestinian militia members on motorcycles move between small settlements and try to create the effect of a wide presence along the front line.

Yet the massive presence of Palestinians in Israel's border towns appears to be waning.

🔻 Massive shelling:

▪️From yesterday evening until now, the Israeli Air Force has been carrying out mass strikes on targets in the Gaza Strip.

And this is partly true - given the density of the population in Gaza, it is quite difficult not to hit civilians.

▪️ In response, Hamas fired a volley into Ashkelon and other cities. Several strikes hit Jerusalem, Rishon Lezion and Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

▪️Israeli air defense has certain difficulties in intercepting missiles. After the third day of salvoes , the Iron Dome system misses more and more missiles, and more and more hits are recorded, leading to casualties.

At the same time, rumors are spreading about an impending shortage of air defense missiles in Israel, the basis for which just yesterday was given by the statement of a request (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/10/08/israel-gaza-strikes-hamas-netanyahu/#link-PK4KJJAFDBDTJCC6ID56HHD2CE) to the United States to provide anti-aircraft missiles.

🔻 West Bank:

In the West Bank, after large-scale protests and clashes, the situation calmed down somewhat as the day wore on. However, operations by Israeli security forces and attacks by Palestinians continue there as well.

▪️ In Dotan and Harmish there was a shootout in the morning, and in Nablus there were rallies and clashes, including with the use of weapons. In the north, in the Tulkarm and Netzani Oz region, protests and clashes continue, although full-fledged street battles have not yet reached.

Against the backdrop of the events of the past day, it can be assumed that with the onset of darkness, Arab youth will again take to the streets of the cities of the West Bank.

Al-Akhbar Lebanese newspaper:

The #Gaza resistance informed the resistance groups outside Palestine that its missile force is capable of dealing with the enemy for a long period of time and that the readiness for ground war is also excellent.

Hamas announced that it has sent only 2,000 fighters to war and still has 40,000 more fighters in the Gaza Strip.
