Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

MODERATORS

There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants. More detail here.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly update is here.

The bulletins site is down.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Add to the above list if you can.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

God I wish the USSR was here to tell Israel and the US to fuck off while sending Hamas tanks and guided missiles

A picture is worth a thousand words. You could tell none of them like that genocidal ghoul. It's all fun and games talking comparing Palestinians with animals when you're not the one who has to crawl through the tunnels.

So the Palestinian death toll the media is using is probably exclusively civilians, right? Since it comes from the Palestinian health ministry? And the Israeli number is like 3/4 soldiers?

Security experts say U.S. military support for Ukraine and Israel will complicate efforts to deter any Chinese attack on Taiwan.

Retired Navy Capt. Jim Fanell, a former Pacific Fleet intelligence director and specialist on China’s military, said Beijing is watching the increased need for weapons after the Hamas attack, combined with two years of demands on the U.S. armament supply chain from the war on Ukraine.

The Pentagon is rapidly boosting its support for the Israeli military by sending air defenses, munitions and other military goods, a senior defense official told reporters.

I just had a thought;

War Crimes, as a matter of international law where combatants who violate the international laws of armed conflict are, de facto, never prosecuted. There just aren't a meaningful number of war crimes convictions. And in a lot of cases, as with the US especially, the perpetrators of war crimes are shielded by powerful patrons. "So and so did war crimes!" is stating that someone broke a law that cannot be enforced, that is mocked by violent aggressors all the time.

Like of course the IDF is doing war crimes. They know the US would never let them be prosecuted.

I was thinking about it bc people keep saying "Well dropping WP on civilians isn't technically a war crime" and it's like yeah, they're right. it's not a violation of some toothless legal code that everyone ignores. It's an unthinkable crime against all mankind, a horrible act with no justification. We don't need a joke of a legal system to tell us that's wrong and the people who do it should be shunned and condemned, at minimum.

Israeli Forces have Postponed the 2-Hour Deadline given to Evacuate the Al-Awda Hospital in the Northern Gaza Strip, with the IDF now giving until 6am, 8 additional Hours, until the Hospital needs to be Totally Evacuated; Doctors at the Hospital have stated that it is Complete Chaos and the Transfer of some Patients will be almost Impossible.

I'm sure others have already talked about this, but yesterday's Hersh article talks about Israel's upcoming plans:

Essentially, Israeli command is not confident in their ability to fight house to house in Gaza. Instead, they are going to simply flatten northern Gaza, first with a general bombing campaign and then with "bunker buster" bombs that have a supposed half mile kill radius.
I would imagine this will begin as soon as weather permits - it might have started already, if they could.

It's truly amazing how easily it is to find sanctimonious, self-righteous people who clowned themselves.

The only reason I'm not shocked by the banality and acceptability of antisemitism in western society is because I just spent a year writing a book about the banality and acceptability of antisemitism in western society. A lot of people are showing their true colors this week.

Nitter

Multiple sources at different news outlets have confirmed that Hamas beheaded babies and children. They've seen it. The numbers might not be known for sure, but it happened.

Nitter

On Nitter I first searched his account for gazans and then gazan but somehow that had zero results. I think Nitter only goes back 1,000 results. And he has 59k tweets. I wonder what I'd find if I went all the way back to 2009

---

It reminds me of redditors who seemed to be utterly shocked by the fact that I spent a couple miunutes after I clicked their name and checked their history to find recent stuff they wrote so I could quote it back to them. Often they'd accuse me of being creepy and/or "doxxing" them.

Well fuck. With Russia and China signaling tacit support for Palestinians, could we potentially be entering the cool zone?

I’m a big dummy and have no idea about international politics
