Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Last week's discussion post.

Sure, keep blurring the line between civilian and troop, keep giving more ARs to bloodthirsty volunteer death squads, surely these randos won’t get eaten up by resistance fighters or die to friendly fire https://www.timesofisrael.com/ben-gvir-says-10000-assault-rifles-purchased-for-civilian-security-teams

A MSNBC talking head just described Gazans fleeing Gaza City as "refugees". I wonder if that's the go-to term that's going to be used.

The White House is considering adding more Ukraine funding in an emergency aid package for Israel, according to informed sources that spoke with multiple western outlets. Although no decision has been reached, senior US officials told the Washington Post that such a move “could make sense” because it would put a damper on the republican party, “which is firmly opposed to more Ukraine aid but strongly supportive of aid to Israel.” The move would also help resolve an internal crisis between the two ruling US parties that have made signing blank checks for Kiev “harder'”

Israel is the greatest cumulative recipient of US military aid, getting more than $3 billion a year, which to date amounts to more than $146 billion. This year, Washington sent Israel $3.8 billion and an additional $100 million “in funding for other cooperative defense and non-defense programs.”

For Ukraine, the White House has approved at least $45 billion in direct military aid through 47 separate transfers since February 2022. They have also shipped a significant portion of US munitions stored in Israel, sparking concerns in Tel Aviv earlier this year.

During a background briefing on Monday, a senior US defense official told reporters that the Pentagon could “continue our support both to Ukraine, Israel, and maintain our own global readiness,” noting that the US has been able to meet “every request that our Israeli counterparts have made.”

However, EU officials have expressed the opposite sentiment, telling Foreign Policy on Monday, “We face a huge ammo shortage due to Ukraine.” This comes on the heels of a statement by the chair of the NATO Military Committee last week, in which he said “the bottom of the barrel is now visible” about the west's ammo stockpile.

Are they running out of weapons or not?

"Watch this. Dramatic rescues from a residential building."

Gee, MSNBC - why did the building fall down in Gaza and nearly kill that little girl? Was there an earthquake? What happened exactly?

---

Edit

Now MSNBC is doing a segment of munitions that were brought into Gaza. I know it's entirely expected for the US media to avoid mention who is causing the destruction and death in Gaza and I know they'll never show/explain Israeli munitions but it's still maddening.

fascists in NY interviewed by the grayzone

spoilerThe Gray Zone, an investigative news website, asked demonstrators rallying in support of Israel in New York City on Monday how Israeli forces should respond to Hamas’s attacks. Here’s what journalist Jeremy Loffredo heard:

“Kill all Palestinians, all of them,” one man said. “Not one left. From the river to the sea. Palestine will be deceased.”

Another Zionist activist said, “We gotta wipe them off the f***ing map… Flatten them like a parking lot. Flatten them out once and for all and get rid of them”, while a third said now is the time “to erase Gaza”.

He added, “There is people inside… our people inside that are kidnapped. And now we need to kill all of them and free Israel.”

Eygptian humanitarian aid for Gaza arrives in Sinai

Egyptian charities on Saturday sent over 100 trucks carrying 1,000 tons of humanitarian aid including food and other supplies to the Palestinian people in Gaza, local media reported. The aid will wait in Sinai until a deal is secured with Israel to allow the delivery of aid into the besieged territory.

I'm calling it; we're living through Cold War 2 right now, this very second, and we have been since 2021 or even 2014. Historians will see Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan the way we look back at Korea, Viet Nam, etc. Iran, Russia, and China are going to fucking win.

Prediction time:

The US has talked itself up too much and after the whole middle east has united over this they are now crapping their pants.

They don't want this. They're stalling to walk it back. All the talk about how they'll do anything to defend Israel but now it's a problem.

The 10k troop invasion? I think it's real. They're going to do a limited invasion that is absolutely destined to fail to save face. This is so that nobody has to look like they lied, nobody has to look like they said they were doing a ground op but chickened out. They know it will fail but the point is they don't want a full scale war.

Blinken's touring the middle east is to tell them all they aren't doing a full attack, so that doing so doesn't cause everything to get out of hand anyway.

Hamas will walk out of this stronger than ever.

My country's hegemonic media is 100% fash and has been 100% in on the "Israel are the real victims" and equating every Palestinian with Hamas. Until today. Now it's all about them going way too far on Gaza and how much suffering Israel is causing to civilians. Specifically, they're talking about the displacement and the relentless bombing

Out of morbid curiosity, I checked NAFO Twitter, and it's a combination of people shilling for the Zionist entity, people trying to find any tenuous link between Hamas and Russia, and people malding that nobody is paying attention to Ukraine anymore.

Kneel before the man who helped Hezbullah win the 33 day war against Israel, led the Axis of Resistance to abolish ISIL/ISIS and secured pathes to transfer weaponry to Palestinian resistance. Behold:

General Ghassem Soleimani

[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 48 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (3 children)

From Resistance News Network Telegram channel:

In Kuwait, a speech was given yesterday celebrating Palestine and her people's legitimate right to resist. The speaker, after calling the zionist entity a cancer in the region, said:

"Long live Palestine. Long live the resistance. Long live the Arab nation. In conclusion, I hope—I just hope that the Palestinian Authority dissolves the PA Security Forces and advances hand-in-hand with the resistance and Palestinian people. Take a real stance. Long live Hamas, long live PIJ, long live the Palestinian factions."

It was at this point that the "Palestinian" Authority ambassador stormed out of the room. Notably, traitor-in-chief Abbas gave orders to PA and Fatah members not to discuss the resistance of #Gaza. Yet, the resistance advances despite the efforts of the PA, including their abduction of resistance fighters and students.

Dismantle it and let them fall.

https://t.me/PalestineResist/14860

I wonder what the chances of Abbas getting the-doohickey'd is.

if Hezbollah and others don't intervene sooner or later and they just let Israel raze Gaza to the ground then it honestly does prompt the question of what these organizations are even, like, doing. "Oh, my militant group that I basically explicitly formed to fight Israel isn't going to get involved because Israel didn't spin three times in a circle, clap their hands, and say "Abracadra" as we warned them would be our condition for entry, so now, instead of hitting Israel when it is at its weakest in the last 50 years, we'll just wait for them to demolish every Palestinian settlement and then hope that something comes around in 2035 I guess. Maybe the US will lose all its aircraft carriers in a hurricane or something."

Like, I'm not saying that Hezbollah and Iran and whatever should be fervently marching into a potential nuclear scenario if that isn't what the "pragmatic, realist, sensible" analysis of the situation dictates. Like, as utterly callous as it might be, if Iran and friends had decided in like 2010 that "It sucks, but we just can't do anything because the threat that Israel will nuke Tehran and Beirut and other places is too high, and would lead to more suffering than if we tried to help Palestine, so we're disbanding our groups," then I would at least be like "Well, Gaza and the West Bank are on their own, then, and they can't really rely on outsiders to march in to save them." No, Iran and Hezbollah still exist and are still pretty fervently anti-Israel and want its destruction one way or another, and want to help the Palestinian people, and have massive arsenals of weaponry and rockets and drones and thousands and thousands of trained men and so on, seemingly despite the potential nuclear (or indeed conventional) threat from Israel and the West. So if they don't help now then I can't see what exactly would be the impetus for anti-Israel actions in the future once Gaza is a depopulated pile of rubble, even if a substantial amount of the Israeli army was destroyed in the process. Once the Palestinians are gone, whether all killed or forcibly moved elsewhere - and I don't see why Israel's government would allow Gaza and the West Bank to exist as Palestinian settlements any further from this point on if there's a possibility that October 7th could happen again in a few years - then like... that's basically it, surely? Not much point if there's nothing and nobody left to save?

Really hoping that they're just saying that they'll only hit Israel if they invade Gaza, but are actually buying time to get everything in position and hoping that they can scare Israel into not rampaging in, and will just start blasting out of nowhere one day. I understand that it takes time to rev everything up for war, get supply chains set up, get units in position, get intelligence, etc, and Hezbollah didn't know anything in advance so couldn't really prepare in advance.

US charter flight takes 150 people to Israel, including army reservists going to war

In this very short live update this "stop the madness" quote jumped out at me.

Among those waiting in the LAX terminal to board the flight was 37-year-old David Frankel, an Israeli citizen who fled with his wife and two children to Southern California following the Hamas attacks a week ago. Frankel is an Israeli army reservist and said he was called up to serve while in California.

“It’s heartbreaking, but I’m doing it because it’s necessary,” Frankel told CNN. “It’s sadly the reason I’m leaving my boys behind. I had to say goodbye to them in their sleep just a few hours ago. I'm obviously nervous … I want to see my boys grow up. But you have to put that aside and stop the madness that’s happening.”
