Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

MODERATORS

There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account.
English-language twitter account that collates news (and has automated posting when the person running it goes to sleep).
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Various sources that are covering the Ukraine conflict are also covering the one in Palestine, like Rybar.

The Country of the Week is Palestine! Feel free to chime in with books, essays, longform articles, even stories and anecdotes or rants. More detail here.

Here is the map of the Ukraine conflict, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The weekly update is here.

Links and Stuff

The bulletins site is down.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Add to the above list if you can.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

A talking head - a former Obama guy - just said something like "Iran would love to bleed Israel dry in Northern Israel and in Gaza." Yeah, just like the US loves to do right now to Russia in Ukraine.

Apparently EU statements that aid to Palestine would be suspended were just some guy going off. Apparently Oliver Varhelyi was speaking out of turn and did not have the authority to make those decisions.

what does seem to be real is that Hamas in Gaza hit Haifa, 200 kilometers away and twice the distance to Tel Aviv, with a missile

Regarding the Egyptian border crossing.

The Israeli occupation destroys the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian and Gaza borders, and all relief trucks return to Egypt as a result of the intensity of the Israeli bombing. “Two Egyptian workers were injured by shrapnel. “The only crossing linking Gaza in the world.”

The Gaza Ministry of Internal Affairs reported attacks on the Rafah checkpoint on the border with Egypt, and also stated that the Egyptian side asked to evacuate people from there. An Egyptian security source told German news agency DPA that the crossing point was closed until further notice.

The Rafah crossing opened in 2005 following the Palestinian-Israeli agreement. This is the only checkpoint between the Gaza Strip and the outside world, besides those on the border with Israel that are not operational.

Since Day 1 of the war, over dozens of Egyptian ambulances, filled with medical aid, doctors, and medics, have went to Gaza to provide emergency medical services to the Palestinian people, the intiative, by all accounts, is humanitarian and oriented towards the civilian population, obviously.

Israel threatening to bomb the trucks carrying nothing more than bandages, blood packets, antibiotics, and doctors, is a through and through war crime and this is taking place in front of the world.

It's important to note that some of these doctors are directly Army doctors from the Medical Corps and the Egyptian Red Crescent, alongside some volunteers, and they're all Egyptian citizens.

Whoever made that statement didn't think twice, they may have had a legal loophole when they bombed the Palestinian side of the crossing and the roads, but targeting the trucks will not do you any good.

The United States does not plan to send troops to Israel, White House spokesman John Kirby said. The first military aid has already been sent.

The fascists are latching onto this "be careful tomorrow" thing because they see it as an opportunity to make people scared of any and every brown person. Their goal is to increase racism.

🚨 Gaza Government Media Office:

A new massacre committed by the occupation against three convoys of citizens in different locations on Salah Al-Din and Al-Rashid streets, who tried to reach the south of the Gaza valley as per the request of the occupation army.

This massacre has so far, in a preliminary toll, left 70 martyrs, most of them children and women, and more than 200 injured.

Swear to god interacting with my fellow white South Africans on social media is going to turn me into some kind of John Brown figure, these people are so fucking racist man. Supporting Israeli apartheid. Just vile.

They're way too cowardly to state their opinions in real life too, because they know that supporting apartheid in South Africa is obviously an extremely unpopular position.

In Denmark the conservative party has made a formal inquiry to the succdem minister of justice asking whether an existing ban on public approval of terrorism can be used to punish those who has expressed support for Hamas and the Al-Aqsa Flood.

A ghoul from the party says that "We don't think it should be without consequences in a democratic society to praise the killing of civilians and the kidnapping of civilians."

It is unlikely that they expect the ban to extend to those voicing support for zionist terror against Palestine.

A few weeks ago the very same conservative party was pissing and moaning and whining about freeze peach regarding a proposed ban on racist book burnings.

I used to think it was hard to argue with liberals when I was a baby leftist and I think it's because a part of me still agreed with liberals enough to be swayed by what they were arguing. Now I just roll my eyes when they say the same things I've been hearing for decades but packaged in flowery language to sound more sophisticated.

Right now my least favorite words are...

  • baby
  • babies
  • the humanitarian crisis

Libs use phrases like "the humanitarian crisis" as a thought terminating cliché. It's an intro to a short segment about the situation that somehow Israel has zero responsibility for. Every time.

I wondered if Snopes had anything to say about Hamas's "Top Secret" map. I couldn't find anything. But when I was looking around I found this ~2,000 word white phosphorus article...

Do Photos and Video Confirm Israel Used White Phosphorus Munitions Over Gaza Seaport?

A hint about Snopes - you need to scroll all the way to the bottom because the site does SEO manipulation and makes pages needlessly enormous. In the very last sentence they finally get to what should be the very first sentence.

Though these videos and photos may not be confirmation of the use of white phosphorus munitions over populated areas by Israel, they are strong evidence in support of that conclusion.

CNN pushing the story hard that Hamas beheaded babies and toddlers. Someone is lying here and this whole thing feels so surreal, just like the babies in incubators story.

From John Wayne Westerns to horror movies about ancient Indian burial grounds, Orwell's leering 1984 bureaucrats with irish surnames, red Dawn and the turner diaries. Westerners are constantly anticipating the terror our society is built on being revisited on us.

A lie about Israeli babies being beheaded will always resonate with the average political subject in the west than the truth of thousands of Palestinian children murdered or starved.

Nonetheless, even with all their secular resistance slaughtered, all possibilities of diplomacy exhausted, their water and electricity cut off, Palestine and Hamas are still the moral betters of their oppressors.
