It's easy to laugh about this stuff but they really started at first principles and we're still benefitting from the progress they made.
Laugh all you want, but all of modern logic and science is based on their work.

The concept and discovery of zero is actually pretty complex in its own right. We take it for granted now, but it isn't an obvious concept.
