Just seeing trumps response to the online safety act I think it's clear he doesn't care about freedom of speech much

I’m just going to tell you what would happen if this would happen.

Firstly there might be a few small instances of fed’s kidnapping people and black bagging people. But that won’t last long. People will start arming themselves and the feds will have a daily instance like Waco. The federal agents will dwindle as they try to use force to attack the populace. Then the military will get brought in. But that will only mean more dead federal agents. Because if there’s one thing that happens during federal crimes against the constitution. Is that the populace stops giving a fuck and goes harder than the feds are ready to go.

This is all an analysis from my time working in domestic terror. If you think this wouldn’t happen. I assure you Americans are not push overs.

What a petulant, whiney little bitch of a dictator

[–] LordCrom@lemmy.world 23 points 9 hours ago

President just threatened a reporter asking a question....

Narcissistic POS

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago

Fuck off orange Hitler.

White man speaks with forked tongue. Why do reporters never push back against these absurd statements? I know they'll lose 'access', but that's better than losing their integrity.

dammit now i'm not going to be able to get I Wanna Be A Cowboy out of my head

If the country was "fixed"/doing awesome, forecasts for 3 fed cuts by December wouldn't be current. Labour Statistics department head wouldn't be fired for giving bad news.

The bigger problem no matter economic health is "our hate speech is free speech. Your/any criticism, or just concern about the right of criticism, is radical left damaging the country"

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 85 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

And the rest of the press does nothing.

[–] rc__buggy@sh.itjust.works 19 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Well, it looked like they were recording and reporting it.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 35 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Sure, but where is the general outcry and black headlines?

[–] rc__buggy@sh.itjust.works 15 points 14 hours ago

Language like "Trump Threatens"? It's right there.

[–] salacious_coaster 3 points 12 hours ago (4 children)

Did you want them to dive across the resolute desk and beat him up? What exactly were you wanting the unarmed reporters to do here?

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 9 points 9 hours ago

Actually press him on his statements.

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 6 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Someone should. Stupid turd wouldn't put up a fight anyway.

[–] salacious_coaster 4 points 8 hours ago

Secret service might.

That's... literally what this post is

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

To a very limited audience. And one that would be surprised if it was different in the first place.

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

The reporters didn’t post it here to Lemmy (assuming that’s the small audience). It’s on their website and they likely syndicated it across all kinds of platforms (such as Apple News, Google News, etc).

Follow in Al-Zaidi's footsteps.

[–] Dionysus@leminal.space 27 points 12 hours ago

Fucking fascist twats.

All conservatives are terrorists

[–] Wytch@lemmy.zip 16 points 11 hours ago

Ok, I get it now. There's a delay on my Trump-to-English translation. "Treated fairly" means "unquestioned."

He wants people to stop pointing out problematic shit he says and does.

[–] razzazzika@lemmy.zip 31 points 14 hours ago

Libel is now hate speech I guess. And any criticism of the president is Libel now, which is also hate speech...

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 21 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Carry a gun next time you ask questions, since they aren't thrilled about the 1st amendment, check them on the 2nd.

[–] rc__buggy@sh.itjust.works 27 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Press are unarmed, it's what gets them a pass into a lot of situations that armed people don't get to go to.

It's sort of a big part of their identity.

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 6 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Fundamental aspects of the press need to change or we'll continue watching them whitewash everything. Plus I wanna see SCOTUS justify gun control for Fox News people in writing.

[–] rc__buggy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Armed reporters are antithesis to everything they stand for.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

So is bending knee to a fascist and sanewashing his crimes.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 2 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (2 children)

Now that's not true. I'd be happy with them exhibiting journalistic integrity.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

how can interviewees be honest under threat of execution, which is what armed journalists imply?

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

They aren't honest without threat of execution. That's the point they were making. If they're already not doing what they should be doing as journalists then who cares?

[–] rc__buggy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 hours ago

No integrity in this clip?

[–] Eddbopkins@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

I don't see what he sees.
