Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Even better. Slice it into three parts. East, west and middle.

East and west can be one and middle can be on its own.

That always works in horror movies to boost safety: let's split up!

Greene was quickly denounced at the time. Utah Governor Spencer Cox ( R) slammed Greene’s call to split the country as “evil,” and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) added that “Secession is unconstitutional. No member of Congress should advocate secession, Marjorie.”

Hmm glad those states aren't on board with some kind of far right conspiracy plan.

Mississippi National Guard readies for disaster response drill

“Vigilant Guard 2025,” will take place May 12-18. It will give participants the opportunity to activate and employ their response plans to improve mission command, relationships, and interoperability among federal, state, and local agencies.

Guardsmen from Mississippi, along with those from Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, the ability to command a statewide response to a major disaster in coordination with the Mississippi and Tennessee Emergency Management Agencies

No idea if this is just coincidence, but kinda weird this "drill" took place a few months ago on the border between TN and MS right outside of Memphis. Where Trump currently happens to be deploying the national guard...

Literally fought the deadliest war in US history over this...

Which would matter if she cared about history. Or objective reality.

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago

Don't threaten Republicans with learning history. These kids would be so angry if they could read.

[–] HuskerNation@lemmy.zip 2 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

How would it work exactly? It's not like most people could just up and move. Unless you do it by id system. Blue you get out in a national healthcare type system. Red you keep paying the health insurance companies.

Blue vs blue crime, blue judge. Red vs red, red judge. Red vs blue crime the criminal to go face whatever the victim or plantiff is.

But as far as a leading president, no idea how that would work

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah, people are gonna have to move if they want, just like they can now but with a deadline.

Yeah it's gonna suck.

[–] HuskerNation@lemmy.zip 1 points 17 hours ago

Then Republicans best get on board with huge handouts to help with this move. For everyone. They do that. Fuck ya I'll leave. Hopefully Colorado would be a blue state

I see this on signs outside sometimes. I always wonder where the fuck they think the line will be though... The people who believe this shit generally live in the middle of nowhere and all the cities are deep blue so there isn't a red state/blue state divide, it's basically the network city state thing the yarvinists want but even that makes no sense because there aren't really any red cities to form around

You never think she can top her own craziness, but she always find a way.

Shame on me for always underestimating her.

Anyone saying they agree with the idea shouldn’t be. It won’t turn out how you imagine if it actually comes to pass under this admin.

[–] CombatWombatEsq@lemmy.world 4 points 22 hours ago

I hate to say it, but I agree with mtg here. Cascasdia now!

[–] nuko147@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago (3 children)

Silly question. Would they get called NUSA (Not so United States of America)?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 22 hours ago

DSA (Divided States of America).

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

That would cost to much in rebranding. UnUnited States of America can still use the same T-shirts.

MTG basically wants North America to have small countries like Africa.

Weaponized stupidly.

[–] FatCrab@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I actually don't disagree (which is twice now that MTG and I agree on conclusions, albeit for incredibly different and opposed reasons--i can't tell whether this is just early onset dementia, which runs in my family after all), but i can't help but doubt she understands how utterly economically devastating this would be for red states. Nevertheless, sure, northeastern autonomy--from the tippy tip of Maine down to DC and west to Philly.

My little part of the world certainly isn't safe for her specifically.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

I've been calling it the Untied States for months, I think few people have noticed

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I don't think the country can afford to pay for everyone one to move to a star of their color choice.

If a blue country does come about. , let's just all agree religious places of worship are just banned and religion is never talked about publicly. Anything public is a heavy fine.

Intolerant hate speech is also no longer allowed except towards nazis
