Well, looks like Putin's 4D chess worked even better than he could have anticipated. The US want to dissolve themselves now. Crazy how the world changed in just 10 years.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 10 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

It’s not at all crazy- it’s been happening for two generations in slow motion with warning signs along the way. Literally everyone watching has been telling you you have been on this exact path for about 30 years.

You responded with “shut up, you’re America’s hat,” renamed french fries, and gradually got shittier from there.

In that the two biggest calls for a split are from Elon and this hag, I'm going to say it's not in our best interests and work against it.

[–] selkiesidhe@sh.itjust.works 18 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I like the idea of red and blue splitting up. Let's see how long those shit holes take to fester and rot from within. Red states are nothing but a drain. Fuck em.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 10 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Red states already suck and Texas oil isn’t about to solve that problem for the rest of them. They’d crumble immediately.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Unfortunately, the hypothetical blue nation would have a food problem, especially if some red parts of blue states go over. Both such countries would have serious issues.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 5 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

All three countries, you mean. West, central, and northeast.

But we'd buy the food or offer to let a breadbasket join us as long as they abide our laws. Like a Puerto Rico but with flatlanders and a parent country that wants workers to be healthy earners for longer.

[–] Vorticity@lemmy.world 0 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

How can we save Colorado and New Mexico from this hypothetical "Central States of America" hell hole?

I just don't understand how she sees this happening. We get the cities and they get the farms? She's such an idiot.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

We get the healthcare, they got the food. We got the jobs, they got the ... food. We got the infrastructure, they got... hey guys you need to diversify here, we don't do trading imbalances and you're going to need MRIs

[–] ATS1312@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Me and the Union guys can renovate that office building into apartments, with a hydroponics farm in the basement, space for a doctor's office, maybe a makerspace and a few resident-centric server racks.

They've got... Dustbowls incoming and ammo stockpikes that may or may not wither during one hunting season or another.

It starts with her then gradually others "decide" (as if they don't already have this all planned the fuck out) to join her. Eventually other states kind of trickle away and Congress and just kind of agrees to dissolve the union.

Red states leave to form "super states"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissolution_of_the_Soviet_Union

Then this is just a guess but the combined National Guard of the new super states probably eventually just invade blue states regardless of if they try to hold out as part of the union.

Bc it seems like they've been training for this for a while. Blue cities in Red states being used to test authoritarian take over

Mississippi National Guard readies for disaster response drill

“Vigilant Guard 2025,” will take place May 12-18. It will give participants the opportunity to activate and employ their response plans to improve mission command, relationships, and interoperability among federal, state, and local agencies.

Guardsmen from Mississippi, along with those from Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, the ability to command a statewide response to a major disaster in coordination with the Mississippi and Tennessee Emergency Management Agencies

Does this mean Dixie goes its own way with a shiny new government? Hmm.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 1 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

I mean, slavery is technically over and you either believe in self determination or you don't.

Called this reaction from MTG, she's afraid the president kills her, like he did with Kirk.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 1 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

What's this about the president killing Kirk?

Split up the USA… who would benefit from that most? Ah yes Russia and China. As if any more proof that the US government are assets.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 27 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Regardless of what would benefit anyone, a (supposedly) democratic country cannot continue having such a massive divide between its government and its citizens. Something has to give.

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Well, it's pretty clear that democracy is what we gave up.

[–] CatpainTypo@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago

I would hope the government would give. There’s a lot more of us than them.

"it's not safe for anyone"...... Because you're actively making it that way, Margarine Thermometer Greed. Jfc conservatives are so fucking stupid and disingenuous. Repeated school shootings aren't a major issue, but as soon as the bullets start landing on them, the pearls get clutched. It's so transparent and pathetic.

Oh fuck of course! I knew this shit was coming. This is exactly what happened in Russia.

Not a surprise bc the heritage foundation was behind that shit too

1989: A Republican in Moscow

1991: Russia House, Trading in Its Name

Paul Weyrich was the co founder of Heritage. One minute he was in Moscow teaching dissidents about holding elections and sneaking in computers and fax machines.

The next the Soviet Union had collapsed and the Heritage Foundation had helped create the first of its kind go between for U.S. and Russia business as Russia embraced "capitalism."

Government is not answer, God is.

Turn your full faith and trust to our Almighty God and our Savior Jesus.

Tighten your circle around your family and protect them at all times.

They really just can't comprehend that they're violent far right religious extremists...

Can they?

Like, if you translated what Christian Republicans and the Taliban wanted into a neutral 3rd language, I really don't think people would be able to tell which is which.

These dumbfucks don't even realize "God" and "Allah" are literally the same fucking dirty and they agree on 99.9999%.

It's like when one far right extremists shoots another far right extremist in the neck because there's 2-3 details they disagree on.

If anyone isn't exactly the same, they're "them" and an enemy.

If we did actually split the country, their side would just keep picking new groups to run out of their territory until there's no one left on their side.

I agree. I don't care what her reasoning is.

A Pacific States of America would be able to effectively defend itself and would be one of the largest economies in the world. It would be able to make progress on climate change and would have better corporate and banking governance. It would be more accountable to its citizens. It could feed its own citizens through agriculture.

Let the Northeast split off as well. Form a mutual defense pact with the Pacific States. Ban propagandist media like Fox News in those countries and leave the citizens of the remaining so-called United States to let themselves be manipulated into poverty and serfdom.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 12 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Do it.

Blue states can grab the popcorn and watch red states cannibalize themselves.

But conservatives will use the federal government to go to war to keep the blue states....because they need us.

We don't need them.

I'm in danger

[–] the_elder@midwest.social 7 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Financially, culturally, technologically... no. We don't need red states. But we do need food.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Indoor farming is a thing. Importing food from other countries is a thing (we do it already).

I am down with that, I'll stand with all the productive blue states, GOP Nazis can take the bible belt and Southern 'confederacy'.

I'll happily trade houses with someone in the West who wants to join their conservative bretheren.

I kind of agree honestly. We dont have the kind of leadership that brings people together. We could have, but we dont. Until we have more Bernie Sanders types (aka, responsible adults who consider everyone a stakeholder) there is no hope for unity.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 17 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (7 children)

No way the red state faction stays peaceful, as soon as they fuck something up they'll deflect blame on to the blue state faction and start doing airstrikes on us to distract

e; Also, this red state faction could never ever ever be allowed to have a nuclear arsenal or we would all be very fucked, so that's another big hurdle to any kind of breakup plan

Even better. Slice it into three parts. East, west and middle.

East and west can be one and middle can be on its own.

It's not safe partly because this treasonous little troll hasn't kept her mouth shut for the past dacade.
