America helped force Haiti pay reparations to France for the crime of becoming free from slavery and independent of colonialism. the reparations Haiti paid to France constituted most of their GDP for 140 years, and is a big part of the reason why they're still "under developed" (over exploited) today, along with diplomatically and economically isolated, on an island, in a place with a lot of hurricanes, climate change, etc. Also deforestation has made life there difficult.

maybe-later-kiddo Ummm sweaty violence never justifies violence. The right thing for those Haitians to do is vote and be really polite about the being killed for profit thing. That's what civilized people do.
