While likely not even close to the intention, moving away from short term profits and allowing companies to focus more long term would be a positive step in the right direction in my opinion.

There's no way they'll go for that cuz they're addicted to quarterly profit reports, but honestly I think it's a good idea in the long run. God knows half the companies in this country lose their mind every 3 months and sabotage the rest of the year if not decade because of it. The other half don't even wait for 3 months.
