The evidence released so far suggest Tyler Robinson could potentially be linked to a movement like the Order of Nine Angles or 764.

Why in the world would anyone think this pos was a conservative is beyond me.

This is not the same Tyler Robinson that is in custody for the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Property records and addresses show the donor residing at a different address than the shooter. The shooter never donated to Trump or any other presidential candidate.

And seems to have never voted.

He was a Groyper, a Nick Fuentes far right Nazi troll, and a Mormon.

I don't see what being Mormon has to do with anything.

I agree that he's probably on the far right, but we don't have conclusive evidence yet.

Don't let this detail be forgotten

Curious to see how the MAGA crowd will spin this

I've already seen it "he was radicalized by the left during his one semester at USU"

And USU is a pretty conservative school. It's like 1.5 hours from the liberal hub of SLC, is known for its agricultural science program, and is smack in the middle of a ton of farms. It's about as conservative as the area he was from (it's just past the last of the liberal area in Davis County), and on the opposite end of the state. The area is culturally fairly similar to ultra-conservative Idaho, which is about an hour up the road.

My guess is he didn't do well so far from home, so he found a local school to attend in the same county as his parents.

Lol. Cuz that's where all the school shooters come from.

I'm actually convinced now that there is a media campaign painting him as far right so he doesn't turn into an other luigi.

This is some really shallow "evidence" while everyone that knew him seems to say he was to the left.

I will wait to hear more but this whole gopher thing seems like a ploy. I will get a good laugh out of it if it turns out he was centrist or something.

I agree this evidence is shallow, but what people are saying he's left? The one person who said that retracted it as far as I've heard.

I don't think we have any clue. I think right now everyone is scrambling to make it look like he's not on their team.

His family and his friends from what I've read. Although everything should be taken with a grain of salt at this point.

[–] GorGor@startrek.website 3 points 2 days ago

His family said he was vocal about not liking Kirk. Your head filled in the part as to why. I find it suspicious they didn't expand on that more. I guess it's hard to admit "we raised a white supremacist"

I haven't seen anything definitive, and the available evidence could easily go either way. My guess is he's on the right, and I have reasons for that, but I'm keeping an open mind as the evidence comes out.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Yeah, it's all scrambling and bullshit right now. I've seen his grandmother say she has no idea. The New York Post (trash rag) claims his partner is transgender but then claims they're not sure if they're romantic partners or roommates, then states they have no idea if they're transitioning. His grandmother is on record as saying she has no idea what her grandson's politics are. The governor says he's a leftist and it's very clear but has offered no reasoning. A former school friend said Democrat but then retracted the statement within a few hours (which could mean anything from "It's true but I don't want to get involved", to "I didn't understand what I was being asked", to "I lied and don't want my statement scrutinized so that I won't be a national pariah when it comes out").
