Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

They already leaned right to appease Republicans. They're shifting even further?

In time, I'm sure they'll lean all the way reich

"Radical leftist terrorists are protesting against glorious leader's new mandatory euthanasia facility for the mentally ill."

One thing that I noticed today is my local npr does not feel as much like its bending over backwards for the sake of "balance" and saying it more like it is.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 46 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I guess that happens when you’re no longer beholden to government grants for your funding.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 21 points 6 months ago (1 children)

yeah thats what I kind of mean. its like southpark and colbert and npr have all improved. heck late night in general has improved.

Bad administrations produce great comedians.

Decent administrations produce shit comedians.

[–] thegr8goldfish@startrek.website 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Guess that makes Bill Maher the exception that proves the rule.

Idk he isn't funny no matter who's in charge

I thought they were beholden to wealthy benefactors donating to them?

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 22 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I'm kinda annoyed as hell with NPR over the past few years and yet also frustrated at the govt for defunding them.

Tell me more? They finally stop trying to sane-wash Trump after they realized he's still going to defund them?

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 20 points 6 months ago

Feels that way. They were talking about charlie kirk and pointed out how inflamatory trumps remarks on it are and went into a lot about the bad things charlie kirk said. I feel like if this was before defunding it would have spent all its time on how no matter what its a bad thing and we gotta hear all sides.

Honestly way I've been listening to NPR it seems like they had gotten sick of things last Trump administration. I was shocked when you had a senator trying to fight the Green New Deal because "gonna stop cows" and the reporter kept pressing him for where that was until she read it outright to him. Of course the little gremlin couldn't be bothered to answer after that but expecting anything out of the right is impossible.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 months ago

I've noticed that as well

aka: Billionaire nazi now controls CBS, all their news is now shifting to full-on nazi propaganda. Sorry, the nazis bought out this channel like every other one. Fuck nazis.

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago (4 children)

What I don't understand is why no left leaning billionaires are making any effort to combat this. Where's Bloomberg?

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 15 points 6 months ago (1 children)

What left-leaning billionaires?

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago

Bloomberg and Bill Gates? Actually they probably aren't "billionaires" . They could get off their asses and make some buttons or bumper stickers though

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 11 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Unless you won some kind of lottery, you don’t become a billionaire by being a good person. Just having that much wealth means you cannot be a good person. A good person could do unthinkable amounts of good with just a fraction of that money. To get to a billion or more, they hoarded it instead of helping people.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

I think you know lol

[–] Traister101@lemmy.today 3 points 6 months ago

Not at all far behind lmao

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 months ago

I know CNN got bought out recently too. So which of these are least owned by far right billionaires? Like how would you rank them?

ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN

[–] Zier@fedia.io 29 points 6 months ago

CBS will become FOX2. Conservatives are compelled to destroy everything and infect it with hate.
