A safe space for GSRM (Gender, Sexual, and Romantic Minority) folk to discuss their lives, issues, interests, and passions. LGBT is still a popular term used to discuss gender and sexual minorities, but all GSRM are welcome beyond lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people who consent to participate in a safe space

There was a growing pattern of Influential conservatives blaming trans people for mass shootings. This trend seems to be as recent as August 28th or 2 weeks ago.

With charlie kirk's death, and people speculating he was killed by a trans person, it seems like that's going to further incite and escalate things. For example, Jesse Waters eluded that trans shooters were attacking conservatives, especially Trump & Charlie, effectively inciting violence to LGBTQ people.

In my personal opinon, I'd say avoid LGBT centers, parades, crowds. Staying home is a safe option, avoid being openly queer in public areas. That's my two cents. It's not a safe time right now.

I am concerned, but I don't like hiding and shrinking community. If you know fewer allies and other queer folks, whose going to support you if the state or your neighbors decide to escalate? And the best indicator for allies is knowing queer people iirc.

So how do we do that work safely? I think staying and traveling with a group is a start; be in a crowd. Even our more dire shootings don't injure or kill even a fraction of a parade, larger group means the average risk drops.

It's also, as so often is the case these days, an important time for non-queer allies to show up and be visible.

"Why don't we just let the fascists win?"

Suggested without a hint of fucking irony.

This isn't a new phenomenon, it's happened multiple times. What you're suggesting never works.

Even if there aren't any people around who are trans, this is a witch-hunt:

Hiding is never a viable method to fight fascism

Quacky is a loser using AI for his responses. They should not be taken seriously. Quacky is also concerned trolling which are inflamming lemmy threads.

FiremanEd is a liar

  • Using ai -- FALSE
  • Is concern trolling -- FALSE

Snakes are symbols of lies. I would characterize your lying behavior snake-like.

Ok friend. Remember that I am a human being. A real person. I have emotion, a life, a history, located on planet earth. Can you please not make up falsehoods about me in the future? Thanks

fight

That's the problem here. You want to fight. Fighting is warring, and wars never solve problems. But thanks for commenting as it cements the urgency of avoiding these warring factions as much as possible bc you two will only destroy out of ur own blind hatred

That’s the problem here.

You want to fight

You think you can just "disengage" and the fight will stop...

This isn't taking a punch and turning the other cheek with just a black eye.

If you don't understand how serious shit is, stop telling people to let horrible shit happen to them and others.

[–] quacky@lemmy.world -4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

This is hatemongering. May you be happy

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I hope you're just a child trolling and not actually incapable of understanding how dangerous your "advice" is...

But you're a two-day account that started spam posting about how no matter what happens, no one should ever use violence against fascism.

In any case. Everyone else in America would be better off if you stopped talking and started paying attention instead. Not just to what's happening now, but history as well

As an adult, I stopped caring about childish things like acting grown up. Also as an adult, we care for the vulnerable, and that means no war zones. War is not safe for children. Children get into fights. Adults break them up.

"Lol", I say as a German, "lmao", even.
