I think these fascists are trying to make him their "George Floyd". But unlike what the death of George Floyd represented (a wake-up call and a rallying chant against authoritarisnism, bigotry, institutionalized racism, and police brutality), this is a complete farse and a mockery, completely devoid of any meaning. He died for nothing except to give us some hilarious memes to laugh our asses off for no more than a week

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 63 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I strongly disagree.

I'll be laughing for much longer than a week.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 31 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I smile when I think of the blood pouring from his neck.

Nazi lives don't matter.

My fuckwit uncle's response to comments about George Floyd was "well turns out he was an asshole."

So as long as someone's an asshole, it's okay to extra-judicially murder them.

[–] PyroNeurosis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Is your fuckwit uncle internally consistent or a racist?

They're claiming it's their Reichstag fire.... They have somehow achieved a negative grasp of history. As in measured on a scale of 1 through 10, these people have a score of -5

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 53 points 4 days ago (5 children)

The fucking state of Virginia is calling for a moment of silence over this guy. What the hell is going on?

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 32 points 4 days ago (11 children)

And to bury the Epstein birthday book. Did anyone realize that the emails between Maxwell and Epstein were released yesterday?

https://www.newsweek.com/epstein-emails-private-account-2128274

[–] damnedfurry@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Some messages made references to Trump, though they do not provide any evidence of criminal conduct.

Welp.

The article also doesn't mention those communications implicating anyone (alive) other than Maxwell, which isn't nothing, but definitely not the illumination people were hoping for, I don't think.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

You're right, you made me dig a little further.

Edit: Here is one of the mentions of Trump:

Trump’s name surfaced again around the time Epstein was making an intense backchannel lobbying effort to get federal prosecutors to drop their case against him. It was in an email dated Aug. 23, 2007, a month before Epstein signed the non-prosecution agreement with the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida that ended the federal component of the Epstein investigation.

The emails indicate that Maxwell may have been referring to a team of reporters covering Epstein who she expected would be seeking information from Trump; from Abe Gosman, the late healthcare magnate whose palatial property sold to Trump for $41 million after a heated bidding war with Epstein; from court documents in West Palm Beach; and from Joel Pashcow, the Palm Beach police and fire foundation board member who’d traveled on Epstein’s private jet. Pashcow did not respond to a request for comment.

https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2025-jeffrey-epstein-emails-ghislaine-maxwell/

Here is what is on Prince Andrew:

The unsealed documents released Thursday also contain allegations that Jane Doe 3 — whose allegations match those of Giuffre — was "forced" to have sexual relations with Prince Andrew on Epstein’s private island in what was described as "an orgy" with numerous other under-aged girls. It does not specify the year. The woman was allegedly instructed by Epstein to "give the Prince whatever he demanded" and "report back to him on the details of the sexual abuse."

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/unsealed-documents-show-epstein-maxwell-correspondence-2015-n1235307

The email proves he knew Epstein at least as long as Epestein had the island up and running.

They're martyrizing him. Goal is probably civil war and trans genocide.

[–] philosloppy@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago (3 children)

the far-right establishment behind the Trump administration is preparing to use this as the justification for the incoming Reichstagsbrandverordnung.

They've got their van der Lubbe now and they're working to get their bullshit in before Nov 2026

This doesn't matter at all. Release the Epstein files.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 11 points 4 days ago

We need justice and closure for the survivors. That's why the files need to be released.

[–] jmsy@lemmy.world 63 points 4 days ago (4 children)

The last time I checked, and fuck me if I'm wrong, the NFL has several black athletes. What did kirk say about black people?

[–] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works 79 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Calling the Civil Rights Act of 1964 a "huge mistake"

Describing Martin Luther King Jr. as "awful" and "not a good person"

Stated "If I see a Black pilot, I'm going to think, 'I hope he's qualified'"

Claimed successful Black women like Joy Reid, Michelle Obama, and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson were "affirmative action picks" who "do not possess the cognitive capacity to be taken seriously"

[–] jubilationtcornpone@sh.itjust.works 32 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The league only cares about black athletes to the degree that it can profit off their performance.

Case in point: Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem -- which was honestly an extremely mild form of protest -- and was immediately black-balled.

If they do care about black athletes, they clearly care about money a lot more.

Remind me who the owners... wait, don't. Let's just look at a picture of the owners of the nfl.

Then think about how 'just' their presentation goes. Compare the owner and the 'peripheral' employees. There's a better picture that I can't find that is often used in sociology classes, where the owner of a team is in the presence of the cheerleaders and the players, and it can't be beat for showing that if you're a rich man wanting slaves and concubines, owning a team is pretty much the next best thing.

The sports associations are fucked.

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 4 days ago (5 children)

To quote Marilyn Manson:

"If you die when there's no one watching,

then your ratings drop and you're forgotten.

But if they kill you on their TV,

You're a martyr and a Lamb Of God. "

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 6 points 3 days ago

It's all pop culture and social trend... Life's not about being an actual decent human being for most people.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

It's not like I can boycott their garbage any more than I already do.

[–] moondoggie@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Cool, another reason for me to hate football

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I said they weren't gonna, and they didn't. We got a big ol flag display outside town, the towns proud of it. It goes to half staff when appropriate. It did not fly half staff yesterday.

None of those people mattered, duh.

[–] livejamie@lemmy.zip 7 points 4 days ago (9 children)

It will likely happen before every football game this weekend.

Fox News will then publish a pearl-clutching compilation of people booing at college football games, and Trump will use that to justify defunding those institutions further.

i have a suggestion, and that's that everyone going to one of these events, cue up Entry of the Gladiators by Julius Fucik, have multiple copies downloaded on your phone ready to go at whatever public event you're at ready for that jackass' moment of silence, and blare it out your phone. count down one two three then whoever's ready plays at full volume. drown the motherfucker out.

The information on the tiny amount of epstein files released might be titillating but the real meat and potatoes is in the rest of the huge mountain of information that they did not release.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago

i forgor 💀

[–] frankpsy@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

I saw an electronic billboard yesterday on the road that said "In Rememberance Today" or something like that and started getting angry thinking they were talking about Charlie Kirk but then I'm like, oh damn, I done forgot...
