All the presidential candidates have lifts in their shoes. It's just part of the game. Americans have somehow got it in their minds that taller = better
With a slightly different set of historical contingencies, we could have ended up living in a world where formal attire demanded really ridiculously large heels on all people's shoes, and been able to watch high-powered businessmen prance around on Formal Stilts.
