Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Boyfriend is most definitely not the top

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 107 points 1 week ago (3 children)

She called him one though, not sure why you think she'd lie about that

[–] jackr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 49 points 1 week ago (1 children)

because it'd allow her to say something funny

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Y'all need to date more muscle mommies that you think this is worth discussing

[–] jackr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago

I'm just finding ways to waste time. Unlikely that I'm ever gonna date a “muscle mommy”, I don't have much interest in dating anyone.

The same reason woman don't tend to tell others their boyfriends weenier is tiny.

[–] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

o.0 I have overheard that conversation enough times to know it isn't true. I have been part of that conversation (and left it) enough times to know it's endemic among even the sort of people I am friends with, and I'm choosy about friends.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works -2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I said "tend to tell". You may be an outlier.

[–] SnortsGarlicPowder@lemmy.zip 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I don't think they are. In fact you are the only one I have heard of who even insinuates women talk about their partners less than men.

[–] dwindling7373@feddit.it 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Talking about their partner is one thing, saying everything with no filter is another.

[–] SnortsGarlicPowder@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago

Women do seem to say everything with no filter and sometimes say "oh you guys talk about the same things" when called out. We don't. Some do and I class those men as dickheads. Most I know about my guy friends sex lives is if they have a new partner, broke up, and maybe if they had sex yet. Random women on public transport? Basically everything. I don't want to know.

She could be a power bottom

[–] you_are_dust@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

True. Only because he's generating so much power from the top!

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Actually Mac, you got it backwards. A power bottom is actually generating all the power by doing most of the work

Something about his haircut that makes me think he likes a party in the back.

[–] BadJojo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 112 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I am so jealous of her body. If only I wasn't so...what's the word...ah yes, lazy.

[–] Aspharr@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

Start small and don't dive into the deep end. Do that and you might find sticking to it easier. When you're a complete beginner the bare minimum amount of work is enough to start seeing results in a few weeks/months.

Only go hardcore blood and guts later on if that's something you really want. Willpower/motivation is a finite resource, so making exercise absolutely miserable from the very beginning is a good way to fail after a week or two tops.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

me too and I'm a dude

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 122 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I have a gym membership since January, and believe it or not, absolutely no change what so ever. No more muscles. No more strength.

If this continues, I'm a walking down to that gym myself to see what the f is going on.

Diet is part of it too.

You'll need to train not a day or two, but three per week at least. And everyday half an hour of moderate exercise (a walk for example) helps.

Eat a little-processed Mediterranean diet., ie. lots of vegetables and some seafood, proteins.

[–] duhlieluh@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 week ago

i would call first

[–] EldenLord@lemmy.world 45 points 1 week ago

He was a skater boy, she was a muscle mommy. Can I make it any more obvious?

[–] frozenpopsicle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 38 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"He makes me laugh" -Jessica Rabbit

do not underestimate that. I married so far above my weight class just because i can cook and make her laugh.

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Pity she's a bottom. I'm a bottom too. :(

[–] froufox@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

sheesh, she has a boyfriend already

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 43 points 1 week ago

Yes. That is absolutely the only reason I would never get to have sex with her. /j

[–] faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But where'd the boyfriend get the shirt?

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 34 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Believe it or not, also Hinge.

[–] nexguy@lemmy.world 37 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She has a second account for the cosplays specifically. But I can't check much because I don't have an account.

Ah I found it. She's cosplaying Shira from Ice Age.
