What’s the smallest possum in the world? That would be the little pygmy possum (Cercartetus lepidus). This marsupial typically weighs only 0.4 oz (10 g), about the weight of ten almonds! It’s an omnivore with a taste for the nectar and pollen of flowering plants—and it can consume up to 7 percent of its body weight in a single day! This species inhabits parts of southeastern Australia and Tasmania.
