A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

  3. Follow Piefed.social rules.

Rome fell because there was not enough homosexuality.

Based and completely true.

Note the Five Good Emperors:

3 gay guys who didn't have kids, and therefore had to adopt a competent heir

1 romantic widower who refused to remarry (loving your wife in Ancient Rome is gay, It Is Known), and therefore had to adopt a competent heir

1 straight guy who left the Empire to his biological son, who ruined everything

Obvious conclusion: Rome would have been better off if Marcus Aurelius just loved men like every other decent Roman citizen

Rome never collapsed.

It went dormant.

We'll be back.

Rome collapsed for many of the same reasons that all "great" societies collapse, but largely it was because of skinks.

I never knew lizards were an effective weapon against imperial power.
